Many are disappointed for not getting welfare cards

BANGKOK: -- Many low-income earners were disappointed when they showed up to receive their welfare cards, but were told to come back again on Oct 17 because the cards are not ready yet.

PHUKET: -- The floods that devastated huge swathes across Phuket last week were the “worst on record”, officials have confirmed, with thousands of homes damaged, two bridges rendered unsafe and unusable and the total cost of the damage done by floodwaters yet to be estimated.

Former murder suspect gunned down in Phetchaburi

A man once suspected of being involved in a murder was gunned down in Phetchaburi’s Muang district late Thursday night. Police said Sunthorn Chanriam, 34, was shot while riding a motorcycle with a 14-year-old boy along a road in Ban Hua Don village in Tambon Saphan at 11.30pm.

Violence continued in the southern province of Pattani on Friday, the holy day observed by Muslims, when insurgents detonated a roadside bomb to ambush a patrol unit of rangers in Sai Buri district, killing six and injuring another ranger and a civilian.
