Ngampan talks to task force members on Wednesday.

The woman apprehended at a hotel in Bangkok’s Yaowarat area was identified as Ngampan Mahabunnark.

The Administration Department taskforce claimed that Ngampan had used copies of other people’s identity cards and housing registrations and forged their signatures before registering them with the Interior Ministry as employers of migrant workers.

According to the law, a migrant worker working in Thailand has to have an employer registered with the Interior Ministry. Ngampan’s activities reportedly profited from migrant workers who did not have real employers.

There were reportedly more than 100 illegal migrant workers using Ngampan’s service.

Her activities put national security at risk as illegal workers could commit crimes and pose other threats in the absence of employers’ oversight, authorities said.

The taskforce will complain to police that Ngampan had filed false statements and used other people’s documents without their approval.
