Pattaya hanging wires: "Will it take a serious accident before someone does something?"

Sophon Cable TV reported on Wednesday that a post on Facebook had highlighted the dangerous state of the wires hanging down at the end of a soi in Central Pattaya.

The wires and cables were hanging precariously above and some were at street level ready to snare passing pedestrians or motorcyclists.

The pictures had been shared to the popular fan page Mem Pho Dam along with the following tagline:

"This place is so scary. Why don't the authorities come and sort this problem out?

"It is the source of much trouble. Does there have to be a serious accident before they do something about it?

"It is terrifying to ride past".

Sophon said that the wires in the pictures were at the end of Soi Nern Plap Wan in Central Pattaya and they called on relevant agencies to come and sort out the problem.

Climb up the electric pole with a e-cigarette and a drone hanging on your backpack .. the authorities will react real fast....

Looks like most of these cables belong to a cable TV provider...

At this particular point (beginning of Soi 53, Soi Muslim or Soi Neun Pleb Waan) there were several fires last year and the beginning of this year, causing a long down-time of the internet and damage to buildings.

There are a lot of other locations where cables come out of the bundle dangling over the street damaging cars and causing bikers to crash.

Instead of reporting this issue, Sophon could start to organise their part of the spaghetti.

Eagle mocked the Thai's down below by having a work out next to some big electricity ..

We have some wires in Naklua that almost touches the ground. Anyone can get near them , even a small kid.  Just waiting for a fatal accident.

Serious accident?  Nah I don't think that will have any effect.  Now if someone for some reason loses money as a result, that's another thing.

Health & safety & Thailand?  Nah - does not compute.

Well they are working on it, try driving down Klang.

You mean like Sophon who seem to always be passing the buck.

we won't talk about this (and other, similarly delicate) issue(s) anymore in the year 2037:

By then, Thailand will have reached all levels of Singapore (politics, education, environment, safety standards, crime rate, lowest corruption, tight society etc.)

this was forecast by some TH government agency a few days ago

...and the bird thought to himself "it is difficult to soar like an eagle when you have to work with ducks..."

I am sure I heard something was about to be done about this.

Was that in 2017 or 2016 or 2015 or 2014 or 2013 or 2012 or 2011 or 2010 or or or....

Answer: All of the above.

no, it will take bill gates mentioning it , that will get it fixed.  bill come back and talk about those naughty people stealing electricity again.  please we love you.  you fixed about a 10 m2 area of BKK, lets see if bill power will work anywhere else

Most of these wires are redundant and I just wonder haw many tons of copper are hanging from these poles around Thailand ?!

Why don't the locals just bulldoze it over and blame it on Falang mafia. I'm sure all interested Thai companies will be there in a micro second and fix it up.

It has to come to several (one is not enough) accidents before some one responsible crawl out of his airconditioned nest..

thats the way in Thailand and thats what i learned here and experianced here....THE HUB OF THE MOST SHITY THINGS

That is what I love about the place!  Freedom OR safety...  take your pick, you can't have both!
