Social Development and Human Security Ministry, UNICEF and relevant units signed an agreement to jointly solve human trafficking

The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security together with UNICEF, Plan Thailand organization, and six provinces along the Andaman coast signed an agreement in a joint effort to help the victims of human trafficking. The signing ceremony was held at Royal Phuket City School at around 10:30 AM today (Jan 10).

Dr. Saisuree Jutikul, the president of the subcommittee responsible for coordinating with involved units to solve women and children trafficking, stated that human trafficking is a problem that clearly violates human rights, and the problem has become more violent and complex.

The government however has announced that human trafficking is a national agenda that needs to be addressed. The government has allocated a budget of 500 million baht to help the victims of human trafficking in many as forms.

The agreement being made today will help national and international agencies at all levels to work together to solve human trafficking in Thailand, especially in the six western provinces of Krabi, Satun, Trang, Phang Nga, and Phuket.

The agencies will also be able to integrate and determine the working methods together.
