Army troops help Bangkok flood victims

By The Nation

After Bangkok was battered by heavy downpours early on Saturday, several Army disaster mitigation centres mobilised to help stranded motorists and other flood victims.

At 4am, the disaster centre of the Second Calvary Division deployed troops to help residents of Ratchathewi district. They also assisted motorists on Si Ayutthaya road where the floodwaters were high.

In the meantime, the flood disaster centre of the First Army Division dispatched troops to help motorcyclists and motorists whose vehicles’ engines broke down due to floodwaters on Nang Linchee road in Sathon district. They also helped drain water from some houses in the area.

The Ninth Infantry Division dispatched troops to help flood victims in Pathumwan, Vadhana and Klong Toei districts. Troops from the division also assisted motorists and cyclists on flooded roads including Soi Vibhavadi 7 and Soi Lat Prao 5.

The 11th Army Circle sent troops to survey the needs of people affected by floods in many parts of the Bangkok.
