Bangkokians woke up to flooding on Saturday morning and more downpours are expected to hit the lower region of Bangkok over the next few days. Due to this, the prime minister called a meeting yesterday to discuss the situation.

Bangkok is predicted to battle rain until Thursday, when the monsoon moves to the south of Thailand. The roads that officials are watching for possible flooding this week are Vibhavadi, Ratchadaphisek, Lat Phrao, Chaengwattana, and Sukhumvit, according to Deputy Director-General Thongplew Kongchan of the Royal Irrigation Department (RID).

He said the department has discharged the waters in the Bangkok canals to prepare for a new wave of flooding, Bangkok Biz Newsreported.

This contradicts almost all former official gov. statements. I wonder if the Deputy Director-General has any plans to seek asylum in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or the Sahel zone.

Perhaps if the drains were maintained a bit better with all the grease or garbage clogs removed, the flooding would be a bit of a lower level ?

Where's the water going to go when you keep building more condos, shopping centres and houses?

The place is pretty flat, guess the water will go to the ocean as it has always

done. Flooding some of the lower places as it does almost every year.

Floods are just a way of life in Bangkok.
