Certify Passport Qn

Featured Replies

Went into the British Embassy yesterday asking for a certified copy of my passport.

I asked him to copy it all but he said they only do the id page. I asked him if that’s all that’s needed for the sponsor’s submission and he said he was surprised I had to hand in a certified copy of anything from my passport.

I asked him to check with his colleagues in the visa section and copy what they require.

Anyway, needless to say when I collected it today, it was a grainy copy of the id page with a couple of sentences and a signed stamp all for 1313 Bht and they still couldn’t answer my question if that’s enough.

Couldn’t get near the visa window downstairs to ask as it was too busy.

So now I’ve got the id page certified can I just photocopy the visa pages myself without any certification?

Why do you want a copy of your passport if you're sponsoring? If you are there in Bangkok when your friend/spouse/sponsoree puts in his or her visa application to the Visa Centre, then all you need is your original passport plus an ordinary photocopy (all pages). The Visa Centre then check it and tick on their checklist that they saw your original passport. There is absolutely no need to get a certified copy done if you are still in Thailand.

Cheers Paully. I should have posted earlier and saved 1313 bt.

Next qn. My trips to see and time spent living here with my then girlfriend span over 2 previous passports that are now cancelled/expired due to full visa pages.

Do I need to make photocopies of all these pages or can I just include the originals without copies in the file as I don't need them anymore?

Same with wife's expired passport. Is it just the original or does it need copying aswell?

HI ...there is a very nice and friendly English solicitor on the 9th or 10th floor of Pacific Bldg 2 next to the Landmark who will do certified passport copies for just.....200 baht ! Make a note of this for future use ie you might want to open a bank a/c in Jersey as well as for visa purposes etc etc . Yes no profit for him but if you ever need a solicitor in the future he is the man you will probably visit.
