A woman was killed when her car plunged into a roadside pond in Udon Thani’s Muang district on Tuesday morning while she was driving to see her doctor, police said.

The accident happened at 6.15am on Udon Thani-bound Mittraparp road in Tambon None Sung in Muang district.

Chanisara Kongsombat, 31, died behind the wheel with severe head injuries.

A witness told police he had seen a car driving fast and plunging into a pond without slowing down.

Noosamai Kongsombat, 56, said her daughter, Chanisara, had to see doctors regularly after she had suffered a stroke, adding that she had awoken at 4am to drive to see her doctor on her own because she has divorced.

Age 31 and after a Stroke?

Whow! That sure seems young to me.

Two sons of friends died of a stroke at the age of 16. So not so uncommon

Very selfish and stupid to even drive if she had previous history of a stroke., she should have called an ambulance  Lucky she did not kill anyone

Unfortunately I must agree.   I gave up driving a vehicle of any kind ( inc bicycle ) after my first of many TIA's over 5 years ago, let alone my first stroke.    TIA's you may get warning signs, strokes probably not.

The lady could have dialed 1669 or whatever the local emergency call out number was when she woke up.

My sympathies go to her surviving family.
