That would be a great place for the Chinese Walking Street, away from everyone else.

It's definitely being designed and marketed for short-term tourists, a large percentage that will likely be Chinese.  When I commented on how tiny the under-counter refrigerator was in the 2 bedroom condo model, the sales clerk said a bigger fridge wasn't needed as the bookings would be only for a few days.

I'm told that it's for a condo block. Same company as did The Base nearby apparently.

That's a rather small area for a condo

Look it on Google Maps

To be honest there is a large area between 2nd and 3rd that should be demolished. It is a dump!

Unsure what area you are talking about. "Between 2nd and 3rd" is huge !

Quite, the Diana plot can only go back as far as the LK Renaissance but could easily merge with The Base.

You never know, the Apex could go the same way.

The most important info :biggrin::

Bronx Pizza has moved over 2nd road to TIPP plaza (same like the painters from former "art street" next to Mike where also something is going on).

Tell me its not true that Bronx Pizza isn't walking distance from the beerbar complex that was across the street.

It was so easy just to walk over for a few slices when have having a few at the Cherry Bar.

Mostly true.

Walking distance yes, but you have to cross 2nd road (twice).

One of the few remaining adventures of these times.

I have been always impressed with the small piece of specially elevated Second Road kerbside in the vivinity facing Second Road and hope that the local council can retain it by assigning an historic preservation order so that it isn't demolished.

The first place I stayed in Pattaya in 1989 and my favorite place to stay ever since. I will miss it.

I assume a black light of those rooms would show a whole lot of fun. :)

You remember what you paid your first visit?  For the room?

Either 200 or 300 baht. They had a few bargain fan rooms that were not up to much, but you could use the swimming pool and the facilities. Eventually, you had to go to the the end of soi Diana to the Diana Dragon to get rooms for that price. A few years later,  I started a profitable business and started staying in the Diana Inn again. The Diana Dragon soi was always flooded at certain times of year and the girls did not like walking through it.

But in the case of Pattaya, full of Chinese............mmm, lovely.

Believe it or not, certain men in "important" positions in Pattaya society dream of such on Pattaya's stinking bay, and the way it's going, they'll get it.

Whether they'll get the crowds in the photo is debatable though.

For a foresight of what may come visit Penang. The destruction wrought to beaches there is truly terrifying to anyone that ever loved Pattaya of old.

Time for a Pattaya 2.0.   There must be some relatively unknown fishing village somewhere that'd welcome the "upgrade".  Please just don't tell the Chinese.

Plenty of such south of Chumporn. Miles of unspoiled beaches, but impossible to reach by public transport.

Got some pretty reliable info. on this.

Sansiri bought the corner and will be building 2 high end buildings over 20 stories each.

The first on 2nd rd. will be a service apt. for long and short stays.  Similar to a Centrepoint property.

The 2nd building will be a condo high end.

There is plenty of room there but it should be interesting rea. the traffic entry/exit.  I am thinking maybe part of the flow will be thru the current road into The Base.

I wonder if they know some reason that sufficient people will be visiting to fill them. There's loads of new accomodation building in that area.

I could understand it if there were a decent beach or infrastructure, but in Pattaya neither exist.

Don't disagree but I do not think the Sansiri people are stupid.

The Base is always packed.  Mostly ST renters. I rent there full time, but people who bought have seen appreciation of approx. 1 million b in 1 1/ 2 years.

So, you are right it will add to the traffic zoo. But, that location is pretty darn good and if it is judged by The Base success, should do well.

It will be a condo block or hotel, certainly nothing to enhance the area or improve parking and access.

Enough of that talk. Where would you stop demolishing?

Bring it on LOL. I lived in such a landscape for 20 years, in Surfers Paradise.

Agree.  Sansiri has built 2 projects in Pattaya, The Base and the higher-end Baan Plai Haad.   Both sold out relatively easily, even at price points approaching 15MB at BPH.  No reason to think they won't have another success at the excellent Soi Diana location.  I would consider buying there if the project is expensive enough and with few small units to keep the short term renters to a minimum.

If you plan to buy a condo, beware of nearby empty lots and/or vacant buildings.

Yes, people say there are many units on the market, which is true.

But, not many like what Sansiri has built.  Check out The Base or Baan Plai for yourself.

I had a friend come to my place at The Base and his first reaction was: Just like Vegas..

If one likes new upgraded environment at admittedly a higher price, Sansiri does a pretty good job.

Things like my internet and TV and new wiring very fast never a shut down or loss of connection.

The Kodi and etc. work great here always clear with no disruptions.

Sansiri seems to have their act together.

Oh, all change since 1994 has been negative in TVF Pattaya, after all.

Which ones near the corner of 2nd Rd & Soi Diana? After you've identified them, pls tell us what danger they pose.

I would worry about outdoor music or karaoke's.  Rented a condo a few years back that had one open up about 3-4 am 150 yards away.  Had to sleep with windows closed.

Yes, it will be on Soi Diana right across the street from those bars which are loud.

But, I am always surprised how many people buy places w/o checking them out.

Don't look at a condo at 1pm.  Better to go at 1am for the truth especially in this town.
