PHUKET:-- Police are waiting for forensic results to come back in the murder case of 79-year-old German expat Johann Friedrich Speckbacher in late September.

However, Mr Speckbacher’s wife Ms Nirandorn Pratumsin, from Phuket, has confessed to killing him, confirmed Lt Chanat Hongsittichaikul of the Chalong Police today (Nov 1).

“We are waiting for DNA results to come back to add to the investigation file. Other areas of the investigation are unproblematic because she has already confessed. We just need to complete the evidence part of the investigation.

She is probably hoping to hasten her inheritance. I know that in most western countries someone who murders for the inheritance will be denied it,

"The slayer rule, in the common law of inheritance, is a doctrine that prohibits inheritance by a person who murders someone from whom he or she stands to inherit (e.g., a murderer does not inherit from parents he or she killed)."

Wonder if this applies to Thais...

And I guess the police/army want to prove it murder so any money stays in the bank for 10 years so they can get their paws on it

They used the terms forensic and investigation and DNA, all in the one story.... amazing thailand

Right choise of wife, it seems.

He was 79, she was 52. Strangled him with a rope as he sat down for dinner.

Geez takes a while for DNA on murder but they had the DNA results from Yingluck's escape vehicle within 12 hours.

Have to be careful who you choose for dinner. Only fun and games up to 60 years of age, then it might turn into a nightmare.

KT much quicker than that!

Some pedants always want to bring up politics in almost any thread!

This was a tragic, yet simple, case of murder within the family.

The murderer went straight to the police, confessed and is being held in custody.

The provision of DNA evidence required to round out the case is obviously not a high priority in this case.

It's not suicide, and has nothing to do with the junta, former prime ministers nor rich kids on the lam.

Move on, no conspiracies here!
