I know this isn't Thailand related, but it could be a sign of the times for Thailand in the near future. Japan is now keeping overstayers, even for one day overstayed,

in holding cells for between 3-5 days, deportation and a 5 year ban from the country (San Francisco Chronicle, May 10, 2004, pages A1 and A14). The people cited in the story were not criminals at all,just young students studying Japanese

language.

you are right. that has absolutely nothing to do with Thailand. I'll take a break anytime. That's like comparing Thailand's visa on arrival with the USA
