Thai prime minister to buy England, Wales and N. Ireland

Thailand's multi-billionaire prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra has divulged an ambitious plan to acquire a controlling interest in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. He has excluded Scotland from the deal because of what he described as "Insurmountable language difficulties".

He has been in secret negotiations with Tony Blair over the last six months and the pair announced a deal over the weekend which Blair described to the British public as a "Win win situation".

Later in a tapped telephone conversation between Blair and Geoff Hoon, Blair was overheard saying, "Look Geoff, were in the shit over Iraq and I've got the country baying for my blood, this Thai deal should deflect everyone's attention for a while and we can play for time".

Hoon said, "Don't you think the public will feel you're selling them out by flogging the country off?

Blair retorted, "Let's face it, the public is giving me a hard time over this Iraq fiasco so why should I show them loyalty, screw them?"

"If I knew 18 months ago what I know now, I wouldn't have touched George Bush with a barge pole and if I were you, I'd make sure my parliamentary retirement benefits were paid up to date because I don't think either of us will be here this time next year".

Geoff Hoon asked, "What will the EU think about Thailand owning 66% of the UK?

Blair answered, "Screw them too".

One would suspect the Welsh and the Northern Irish not too raise too many eyebrows. Trading one colonial power for the other... and at least with the new one, they'll be introduced to some decent grub, and the joy of photo sticker machines. :o
