Why are my Apple accessories so lousy?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I had to get a new cover for my iPad Pro after only 18 months - it was literally falling apart, the fabric had come away from the cover; you could barely see the rose colour from the dirt. Got it from Apple itself (it's already picking up black marks after a few weeks).

And now, again, my lightning charger is self-destructing at the plug end into the iPad. It's a couple of months old. Did I mention this not the first time? Usually they last about a year before the wires are visible. Got it from the Apple-ish shop, first floor of Tukcom.

What do you do to manage your Apple add-ons short shelf life?

cheers

You must be pretty rough with the lightning cables? I’ve never worn one out, only turned yellow after 3 years. My Mrs has the original lightning cable on her iPad mini 2, nearly 4 years old, still ok but really yellow now!

I wouldn’t buy the Apple cases as they are overpriced. How about the UAG type cases for the iPad Pro? They are also a little pricey but really tough.

I agree with DMC1.  I too wouldn't bother with Apple cases.  I purchased a Knomo case for my wife's iPad.  Again, not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Never had a problem either with genuine Apple lightning cables.  They last years.

If it's not genuine, which I suspect it's not, then I would be more concerned about it burning the house down.
