Military parade marches on despite flooded Pattaya beach road

Heavy rain in Pattaya failed to stop the military parade along the Pattaya beach road held Sunday afternoon as part of the International Fleet Review 2017 to mark the 50 th anniversary of the founding of Asean.

Heavy rain preceded the parade and flooded the Pattaya beach road. But after the rain stopped, the parade which involved military personnel from countries participating in the fleet review commenced in the company of the Royal Thai Navy marching band on the flooded beach road from Tawanna night plaza to Pattaya 8 school.

I was there and honestly..... The best thing would have been to cancel the entire show at noon!  With thunder and lightning minutes away the paratroopers jumped.  For an air show?  It was great to watch, no doubt about it, but by the time the last one landed it was a monsoon!  Loud thunder and lightning, pouring rain. Safety for the masses certainly was not an option.  Thanks for the show but delaying it one day for the sake of safety would not have been a wrong decision to make.

Given that it is still the rainy season, maybe the powers that be should have invested some effort in ensuring the drains were clear rather than removing "undesirables" from Beach Rd.

Talk about a loss of face on an international stage.

Nobody can predict the weather, but You are wrong concerning the rainy season in Pattaya :

Rainy Season and Weather in Pattaya

"In Pattaya, the weather is good all the year round. The rainy season is officially in September and October"

The flooding receded as the parade went on and it didn't take away from the enjoyment; even added to it.20171119_165226.thumb.jpg.d42e9662eb3c2e11c6ceaf302b99fc12.jpg

Take another look at this Photo, in the bottom of the frame you can clearly see a blocked drain cover. Not to mention that the drain is higher than the water.

yes,if that flood water was clean ,it would have been absolutely charming...the wheather was great the crowd was perfect and the show was amazing...too bad ''pattaya greed and corruption f$%ed it all up'' those developer clowns should be ashamed of themselves,as these troops marched through this filthy water''..i so want this country to be better, than this....
