I just noticed a mistake in my passport. I am in Thailand on a O-A visa multi entry.. First year expires June 2018. Upon returning from an overseas trip a few weeks ago, my passport was stamped for me to leave Thailand after 30 days! December 7 to be exact. Is this easy to sort out now at my local immigration office? Or a bigger problem?

You can get it fixed at your local immigration office.

In the future, always check immigration stamps before moving on. Such errors are not uncommon, and needing a special visit to immigration to get them fixed is irritating.

Immigration should be able to correct with OK of entry immigration - if in Bangkok understand there is a desk that handles these errors so not a big deal.  You did put your visa number on the entry card?  Should always check that you have entered on the visa entry - regardless of what it is - to avoid this extra work.

Had similar recently, 30 days instead of 90, I pointed out at the time in the airport and the stamp was changed there and then. I did have the visa number on the arrival card. ?

Went to the local Imm' to check that the computer date had been changed as well, it hadn't.

Filled in a form about it and was told it would be ok.

On leaving the next time the computer was still on 30 day entry but as the 'in' stamp had been noted to say non-O and date changed, at the airport, there was no problem.

On departure the IO did say that BKK only could alter any computer input.

I do always check for the correct stamp and have to say this was the first time it's happened to me in many times out and in to Thailand.

You need to check the 'enter before' date printed on the 'O-A' visa.

If the date expired before your entry a few weeks ago then you were correctly given 30 days.

If the visa expires ('enter before') in June 2018, or other future date, then they made a mistake that can easily be fixed at your local office.

Catch it now. Immigration made a mistake at the airport during a re-entry of mine, I didn't notice it, and when I went in for my 90 day, they caught it and told me my visa was now null and void. I had to start all over. They even admitted it had been the agent at the airport's fault, but too bad for me for not catching it then and there. VERY costly.

you didnt wright your permit/ visa number in the box on the TM7. So they gave you what you should have. Sorry your fault... This cannot be changed.

Common mistake . A hard lesson.

Were you there to see that visa field wasn't filled? NO.

Even if it wasn't, are you Immigration to say that it can't be fixed? NO

So you're talking off your ....? I think, YES,

Hmm.. how that could possibly be the case? Per OP,  visa issued, or first entry, on June 2017.

Because the visa could have been issued anytime between June '16 and June '17. You have up to one year to make the first entry.

How it could have been issued before June '17. Again, OP words: First year expires June 2018

You are supposing something that just doesn't hold up.

If the OP has permission to stay until June '18 it means it started in June '17. As 'O-A' visas are valid for 1 year from the issue date it is possible that it was issued anytime from June '16.

Example:

  • Visa issue date: 15th June 2016.
  • Visas expiry date: 14th June 2017 ('enter before' date).

  • First entry to Thailand: 14th June 2017.

  • Permit to stay until: 13th June 2018.

As simplest logic was telling, looks like the OP was issued the O-A sometime after asking about it here on Apr 9th, '17.

So time-wise, he's doing did the best use of it.

I was going by the information in the OP and offering some simple advice based on the OP. I'm not going to research every members history before replying. I know that most people make an entry soon after receiving the visa.

You claimed that what I was saying wasn't possible. You are wrong.
