Greetings all

I am looking for all beef hot dogs.  I saw Nathan's New York hot dogs in the Villa market near Nana 3 or 4 years ago but not since. any ideas of anyone that sells them?  On my annual runs to the states to visit family, I bring back several packs in a cooler packed with blue ice packs and they stay cool all the way.  But would like to find a local supplier

thanks for any suggestions

On the way to impact muang thong was a real butchershop (don't know the streetname but it's a sidestreet of chaeng wattana) to Impact. He sells beefdogs and much more all homemade. But last month i went there and couldn't find the shop anymore, don't know what happened...

I finally found very good steaks, really very good beef but it took me a decade to find it. I even stopped eating beef for many years. Now i don't dare to write it here because the price will go up if you guys all go there and will be sold out when i go buying. It's at another butcher.

So there is hope, keep on searching..It's thai beef and even better than what i ever had back in Holland. Am eating it right now in sushirolls, can't get enough of it.

I'll give you another address for beefdogs...you go to Paragon supermarket or the one in Emporium..at the butchers is a small department from Khun-Vee...they sell saucages and bacon, nothing else i believe...last time i also saw beefdogs but myself really love the Vienna saucages from them...460 B a kg. I drag kilo's of those into the skytrain and freeze them. They are far above all the other hotdogs and saucages around..try it. And if you find more places where khun-vee is selling than let me know so i don't have to travel all the way to Paragon anymore.

Thian, the price might come down if you shared the location.

The price won't come down, this beef is so good the Thai should export it...and the price is also great. It's tenderloin and you buy the whole loin to cut steaks yourself. It's very soft, great flavour, nothing at all like the chewing gum they sell EVERYWHERE...even well done it's still very nice and soft.

I learned my lessons, won't publish it here because i'm sure it will be mod leow krab, solly....mai mee....

Go to Makro. Simples.

Can’t be doing with all of Thian’s nonsense.

Alright, you go to Makro where there is no good beef and that Aussie beef isn't even sold anymore and was far too expensive.

And don't forget to use the plastic gloves when you're grabbing the raw meat with bare hands before pushing the cart again.

When I first moved to THailand 7 years ago, I used the etiquette I had been taught as a boy about sharing.  But I soon learned that, when shopping at the Villa, that etiquette does not exist here with expats.  when there is an item someone likes and makes infrequent arrives, it's common to see someone clear the shelf into their basket.  I saw that on my last visit to Villa, a particular kind of sharp cheddar had arrived and a man took every piece into his cart, maybe 20 or 30 in all.  I have seen the same thing happen with  Kraft 1000 Island salad dressing, someone grabbing every bottle on the shelf.    I am afraid I have turned somewhat grabby too but, I always leave a couple as the lessons of childhood are still embedded deep.

Great question!

i recently contacted Villa but they said they don't import them.

Im so sick of thai steaks and hotdogs.

they import Oscar Meyer hot dogs (bacon, bologna, etc) but they are not all beef.  I like the beef hot dogs I can get anywhere in the states with natural casings.  what I need to find is an heavily insulated suitcase and fill it up on my next trip to the states .  :-)  throw in some kielbasa as well.

I also noticed it, soo many times i had to hear mod leow krab so now i do the same myself....for products that i like i just buy all of them and don't care about the customers after me...also i stopped holding doors open for others, i park where i like, in fact i do all the same as thai do.

Good meat and saucages are very hard to find in Thailand, it took me more than 10 years nonstop searching and trying it out. I also followed tips from this forum to end up with very crappy saucages from the freezer department of the Makro.

But the hi-end restaurants in BKK do have them, if you order a mixed saucage plate with sauerkraut you can get very good ones sometimes. They're imported i guess.

This is what you get if nobody ever dares to complaint to the vendor, i would expect the supermarket in Central Chidlom to sell good saucages as well (thats the best supermarket for westerners) but they don't have it, also i stopped going there since they can't speak english at all and don't understand my Thai language.

They do have a lot of Kobe-beef there for over 10.000 baht a kg, i wonder who buys that. Japanese maybe?

Maybe try asking on the Chiang Mai forum. I think it is the Sausage King that makes excellent all beef hotdogs for some of the restaurants - Butter is Better is one of them. The Dukes is another. I was surprised at how good they are.

Well he should export to Bangkok. I check Villa every few months only for beef hotdogs. Found them once years ago. Since then turkey only. Bummer!

there was a company for a while , hotdog and buns making beef dogs but they were not good. Wired spice in them, same as you get in Many Thai hamburgers. Guess its to hide the low quality of the beef.

Hebrew National or Nathan's please Villa!

I will email them today. Please also do so. They do read thier mail and respond.
