PHUKET:-- The President of the Patong Entertainment Business Association (PEBA), Weerawit Kreuasombat, today (Nov 27) submitted yet another request for the government to extend the legal trading times for entertainment businesses in Patong to 4am.

The request is a way to end the ongoing “pay for play” racketeering by officials who collect bribes from venues in order to stay open late, Mr Weerawit repeated today, as he also explained to The Phuket News last week.

This time the request was filed to Kathu District Chief Somprat Prabsongkram at the Kathu District Office, with Mr Weerawit joined by other PEBA members.

Passing it in a brown envelope. How ironic.

By staying open later we will end corruption- yeah, right, Times will just expand to 6am or 8am.

Lets just have 24  hr opening and be done with it. People will soon get bored of being out all night .

Better they try to show that they can handle the opening hours they already have. Both from the establishment owners side and from the police side.
When that is fixed, about 2025, then we can talk about extended opening hours.

If you do that. No need for Brown envelopes that's not in their interest.

Handling the request/partition to one of the main takers..Lol...consider that one filed next to the rest!

Best of luck but I'm not holding my breath. Too much money

for the BIB to allow bars permission to stay open late.

People will soon get bored of being out all night .:cheesy: x a million.

Back in the good old days before the world went mad, Pattaya was open 24/ 7 and no one was getting bored.

They're getting bored now, being told that they have to go to bed at an unreasonably early hour, and they are staying away in droves.

I don't remember just how late Patong used to be open back when LOS was a much happier place, but it would have been a lot later than now.

Until after the sun came up.
