Britain is to become the first country where Viagra can be bought over the counter, the medicines regulator has announced.

Announcing its decision on Tuesday, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA),

said it hopes the move will stop men seeking to buy it from unregulated websites.                  Copied from the The Guardian

It's a good call with over the counter to be honest, as we can effectively purchase over the counter already, albeit online.  I can already contact the mainstream UK pharmacies online, quite legally, answer a few questions and be prescribed Viagra, pay the bill and delivered to door within twenty-four hours without setting eyes on man nor beast.

What the government are very obviously trying to negate is the black market but this only goes so far as Viagra is obviously expensive and that expense isn't going to go away unless, and in addition, they also market cheaper generic versions.

What I can't work out is why the government can't apply the same logic to illicit drugs like weed, for a start.
