Could This Hurt Her Long Term Chance?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I will be visiting my girl friend this spring and our long-term plan is for her to come back here to the States to live.

While it's our understanding that a Fiance Visa would be the easiest route to go, I am wondering if first applying for a Tourist Visa would be the better right now. With a Tourist Visa, she would get a chance to come here and see how she likes it. After this we could apply for a Fiance Visa.

Now, it is also our understanding that a Tourist Visa can sometimes be difficult to obtain. So, if we applied for a Tourist Visa and were denied for some reason, would this hurt our chances later on when applying for a Fiance Visa?

She is educated and has a good job so she would definitely have reason to come back to Thailand, but with some of the stories I have read on here of denials, it makes me worry. If it would hurt our chances of getting a Fiance Visa later, we would just go ahead with the Fiance Visa.

Thanks,

Jamie
