Hi looking to book a flight to Surat Thani then make my way to Samui.

See the airways have options to book flight coach trip plus ferry.

But with this option there seems to be a 2-3 hour wait at the airport .... wondering if its worth just booking the flight and then on arrival arrange the trip onwards to avoid waiting around or is it likely to be more hassle than its worth. Will have my kid with me hence the need to avoid a 2-3 hour wait.

Are you flying on Air Asia? If so, they don't make you wait very long at the airport at all. You might have to sit on the bus outside for 20 mins, but then its a 1.5 hour drive, and a short wait for the ferry, which take another 1.5 hours to reach Samui.

Normally  -  Once you get your baggage, you head straight for the Raja ferry kiosk in arrivals, show them your booking, and they give you a bus ticket and tell you to get on the bus waiting outside.

Cheers booked it. It does say on the website its a 2 hour wait ... i'm leaving BKK at 10am arriving at 11am.

I take it the wait will be at the ferry?
