Thailand believes its corruption ranking in international communities will improve this year after the country has shown strong determination to curb and suppress corruption by setting a four-year national stratagy to tackle the problem drastically.

This was voiced by a member of the powerful National Anti- Corruption Commission (NACC) today while the graft buster is going to hold an exhibition to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9.

Mrs Suwanna Suwanjuta, a member of the 9-member NACC, said of the country’s ranking as the Transparency International is scheduled to release corruption perception index (CPI) at the end of this month.

Someone ? has not read the other headline on TV about banning politics harming the credibility of the country.

If they had a credible government they "might" have a credible rating for anti corruption. But don't hold your breath folks.....

Just noticed the English word corruption in Thai script on the card in the shape of a cloud...
Bing translate gave me 3 Thai words for corruption, I am surprised there are only 3................

Thailand is presently sitting at # 101on the 2016 global ranking on the Corruption Perception Index out of a total of 176. By comparison China is at #79.

Here are some related comments from the report which might be interpreted as being deliberately written with Thailand in mind. If the cap fits, wear it!

"The lower ranked countries in our index are plagued by untrustworthy and badly functioning public institutions like the police and judiciary. Even where anti-corruption laws are on the books, in practice they're often skirted or ignored. People frequently face situations of bribery and extortion rely on basic services that have been undermined by the misappropriation of funds, and confront official indifference when seeking redress from authorities that are on the take".

...............but still no transparency in the deals being done by the Government? Political parties are still banned for their own good, for the country's own good and the good of the sitting regime to stay where they are. Unable to offer satire or criticism of the regime as it would be seen as stirring the pot. Where did the wealth of the 'now' politicians come from. The number of military types required on the boards of public companies. Nepotism will stop?

So most of this will be cleared up by the 9th December?

Prime Minister Chan-o-cha "covering for corrupt brother"

Bangkok (AsiaNews) - Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, is being accused of trying to cover for his corrupt brother by using a double standard in his "fight against corruption".

Honestly..... no exaggeration ..... I've never seen less convincing smiles on so many Thais in a picture which calls for smiling than that one.

It is so hard to like this guy, really, much less believe in him when it comes to this particular subject.

As far as the prospect of Thailand improving in corruption rankings.... well.... thank God for Africa.

western powers and ratings groups want results, not just talk, especially from Thailand which has a reputation as an all-talk-and-no-action place
