UK debit card

Featured Replies

Cannot find the answer within post history .  Question ,  is it possible to use a UK debit card to pay money into my new Thai bank account and if so will there be charges ?

Usually the only way is by withdrawing via ATM and then depositing to account. Having a UK CC can avoid the use of an ATM.

Many thanks for replying but could you please elaborate on how the CC can be used in this case ?

Using a fee free CC such as the Halifax Clarity or Barclays Travel Platinum over the bank counter, as opposed to an ATM,  can avoid the 220 baht ATM fee and avails you of the full MasterCard/Visa rate without deduction.

You can then place the resulting cash in to your bank account.

Beware that some banks will try to charge you nonetheless, such a Siam Commercial Bank. So avoid using banks that attempt to charge you for over the counter cash advances.
