Another POTY: TV Forum Superchampions

Featured Replies

Combing randomly through threads, I am regularly amazed by the productivity of some members.

Since this forum has been in activity for about 10 years, it appears that members with 40,000 to 80,000 posts under their belt, have been posting at an average rate of 10 to 20 posts per day, every day, for 3,650 days in a row!

Talk about involvment and consistency!

How do they find time to eat and sleep?

I was also amazed by a member who has managed to get a ratio of 5 likes, or smiles, per post over more than 700 posts.

I haven't read anything from most of the members on the POTY lists, but to me the supermembers/superhumans above are the uncontested champions.

@al007

This guys post on cancer and his experiences with dealing with it whilst in LOS was the most informative piece I ever saw.

That was superhuman.

Hope he's ok.

5 likes and above per post is not uncommon. Thaiwrath has nearly 8,500 from 1870 posts, Z42 scores well over 6 on about 1,300 and darksidedog has nearly 15,000 from just over 2,500.

I couldn't find anything else to do here.

I have met a few who have since moved on, one way or the other.

No mention of names out of respect.

Speaks volumes.

I had it explained once how some members 'likes' quotient exceeds their post count by ten fold and more. I think it was something to do with the farming forum. Or possibly something anomalous in Chiang Mai. Or a game played somewhere.

Either way, it's a 'made up' number (although a few of them do make exceedingly good posts).

Here's a wee hint.

Read every one of Colins posts, every one. Then read every one of Daves posts, then Craigs both here and on tripadvisor. Then keep going.

And then report back.

Because, as grandma Innes would admonish, "Self praise is nae honor!"

You really had me going there until you mentioned bloody tripadvisor...

Craigs ventures are worth the read, unlike others.

Sipi, where are you finding statistics like number of "Likes" for a poster?  I looked at my own profile (haven't done that in a while) and found something about "reputation", with no explanation of how I've gotten the reputation score I have (I guess because I don't sleep around, lie, cheat or steal) but nothing about "Likes".

I may be wrong, but I thought the 'Reputation' figure was the total number of likes?

I don't think so.

You make it sound as if I was a student having failed to read Shakespeare or Balzac.

We are talking about posts in a forum here, not literature!

I am afraid I don't have the time to go fishing for thousands of posts, no matter how interesting they may be.

Anyway and with regards to this forum, I am generally more interested in WHAT a thread is about, than in WHO is posting.

To me, this forum is more like a source of information (that is provided, or that I can sometime provide) than a source of wisdom.

When it comes to the latter, I read books, lots of books, which explains, at least partially, the restricted time dedicated to this forum and a few other blogs on the net.

Probabilities would show that such results are highly unlikely...

Should see the post number and likes by your avatar. As below, have no idea what the row of dots mean.

Oh, boo-hoo my "Like-to-post" ratio is poor, per Sipi's OP.  And I'm active in the Chiang Mai forum, too, one of the forums where he said the posters more freely give "Likes".  Maybe I need to start posting in the "Farming" forum.  We used to own a farm.

Then again, maybe I need to get a life.

And as punishment I am going to give all your posts a "like".

Each and every one.

It's obviously a "need to know" thing.

I heard that TV has built a nuclear shelter in case of an escalation of the US/NK situation. The intention is to save the posters who might contribute most to a new society after the nuclear winter.

9 dots assures you a place, 8 dots gets your name in the hat for the remaining spots. 7 dots and below take their chances outside, but when the food runs out we eat the lower ranked dots first.

As a matter of fact, I can't imagine any other explanation for these dots...

So, a bit like TV where one has to wade through the dross...

My same opinion put very succinctly. For the most part, I feel I contribute advice based on my time here (the aging of cheese), the facts (the price of cheese) and my experience (at Foodland), thus making the knowledge-based commentary in TV of immense value to others seeking to know such things as  the price of aged cheese in Foodland.

However, on days when there are few or no fellow QUALITY cheese aficionado's (You know who you are!), I find myself inexorably drawn to the abject and dire muppets that post vacuous nonsense, wrong-headed advice, biased opinion or just plain sh!te.

Then the Mods come along...

More evidence (if ever more evidence was needed),  that drinking the CM Moat water is hazardous to one's mental alacrity.

Simply lack of local knowledge. ChiangMai moat water cannot be taken neat, needs to have a nip of diesel in it to enhance the taste and aroma.  1503451.GIF

Adding a Chinese floater takes it to another level.

So, a double moat & float & diesel back.
