One killed, three injured in armoured vehicle road crash

By The Nation

A speeding armoured personnel vehicle lost control and hit a side cart in Pattani on Sunday evening, killing the cart rider and injuring three others.

Police said the accident happened at 7pm on the Pattani-Narathiwat Road in front of the Kruese Mosque in Ban Kruese village, Tambon Tanyonglu, Mueang ditrict.

Side cart driver Wansukree Samoh, 38, was crushed by the APV against a power pole and died of multiple injuries.

Three injured side cart passengers were identified as Masakree Sama-ae, 18, Nuriam Taleh, 20 and Patimoh Abiu, 57. They were taken to Pattani Hospital.

Witnesses told police that it was raining at the time of the accident and the four were leaving a noodles restaurant when the speeding APV lost control at the curve of the road and hit the side cart.

Police said the three passengers saw the incoming APV so they jumped down the cart and narrowly avoided the crash but sustained their injuries in their fall.

The APV belongs to the Pattani Taskforce, whose commander, Maj Gen Jatuporn, rushed to the scene and gave Bt20,000 to the family of the dead man and Bt10,000 to each of the injured.

He also pledged to give Bt100,000 and other help to the cart driver’s family.

Was that all he had in his wallet?

No Omega or Rolex watch he could have given?

This is not an 'accident' and should not be described as such. It appears from the description to have been a totally avoidable collision between the APC and the food cart.

'Accident' implies there was something outside the APC driver's responsibility that made his vehicle do what it did.

It doesn't matter Who,,,,They all blame the weather or something ,,,,,, It's NOT,,,,,,It's the Incompetent Drivers  that are ALWAYS at fault,,,,,,

Well "commander", what does the driver get? Nothing as usual....

Please tell the rest of the story about how the driver who caused this disaster was arrested and is now in Jail awaiting trial ?
