Anti-graft officials have made an appointment with four unnamed individuals alleged to have been involved with Deputy PM General Prawit Wongsuwan’s possession of luxury watches, said National Anti Corruption Commission (NACC) president Pol General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit on Thursday.

The four have been identified after Prawit submitted a letter explaining his perspective on the matter to the NACC. The NACC has said it wished to learn further details about his possession of the watches and relationships with the four individuals.

Prawit on Tuesday pledged to resign if he was found guilty. The general also said he had borrowed the watches from friends and had already returned them all.

Watcharapol said the officials would investigate legal aspects regarding the deputy PM’s claim and inform the NACC of their findings.

Anti-graft buster and former senator Rosana Tositrakul, has meanwhile called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to apply the same standard as when he removed government officials suspected to be involved with corruption to pave the way for investigations.

Rosana cited Prayut’s early reasoning in removing them. If the issues were deemed critical or they people were in positions of high rank, there was a need to first remove to pave the way for proper investigations. This, Rosana said, should also be applied to the case of Prawit.

The scandal arose after Prawit was seen wearing a very expensive Richard Mille watch during a photo session with the new Cabinet. Netizens, including Facebook page, CSI LA have reviewed media photos of Prawit and, as of Wednesday, the page estimated that he had worn 25 luxury watches. The total price, based on market value, stands estimated at more than Bt30 million – far higher than Prawit’s estimated income during his past three years in office.

Yeap! Can't disclose who they are. They all had watches with adjustable straps. They also had the same size wrists. (just in case people on social media keep on digging around)

One last question - how many watches did you borrow in total? Can't remember. Great. That will do. You're free to continue being deputy.

Unnamed?

Why are not the names mentioned? The case is of the greatest public interest. The institution that should ensure transparency, veiled here.

Maybe some chinese friends from the weapons and railway industry?

They're not named because there is no name for nobody.

It was Mr and Mrs Invisible and Mr & Mrs NotAtThisAddress, Time for the netcitizens to start bombarding the maker with emails and facebook pages and asking if they are corrupt and asking who purchases the watches or better still did he purchase them. Your get an answer as the maker does not want to be linked to corruption.

Sounds like a 'Case Closed' to me. As will it to those other fine posters who are burning the midnight oil scrabbling for a way to make the whole issue about somebody else. Stand by for 'Plenty of quality watches to be found in Dubai', etc.

Considering that Prawit initially claimed he had borrowed at least one of the watches from a since-deceased acquaintance (isn't it amazing how in Thailand 'good 'ole friends' always die at the appropriate time?), may I assume that this particular person corpse will be one of the 4 unnamed individuals called in for questioning?

If you think it's an absurd idea, you haven't been in Thailand long enough.

If you think it's a reasonable idea, you have assimilated too well.

Take your pick.

Good to see the Junta getting backed into a corner. Lose, Lose situation for the Junta. Guilty, wasn't government corruption the reason the military overthrew them and have spent 3 years going after them so blatant hypocrisy. Innocent, a total loss of all credibility and a feeling of injustice and resentment in the electorate

NACC ‘to meet’ four unnamed people in connection with Prawit’s watches

ANTI-GRAFT officials will meet four unnamed individuals alleged to have been involved with Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan’s possession of luxury watches, National Anti Corruption Commission (NACC) president Pol General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit said yesterday.

It was in December that activists started questioning his expensive watch collection. NACC said they will investigate his asset declaration and said they will wrapped up this “easy” case by 8 Jan. That day passed and new date 19 Jan was set. Now that date is left hanging as they identified 4 owners and will question them at a convenient time. Is that stalling or what? Let’s see if the activists will petition the court to charge the NACC for malfeasance and failing in their responsibilities.

watch fetish? otherwise why borrow a watch?

seen and admired over cunning hidden wealth?

Or just a couple of friends who collect watches of these types and ware when suitable occasions arise?

The only missing link in that case is one will not lend to persons who have no collection too!!
