Central Administrative Court issues injunction against TOT

The Central Administrative Court issued an injunction against the decline of TOT Plc to integrate 1.5 million additional phone numbers of Total Access Communication into its system.

The cellular operator asked for the court's injunction on Wednesday.

The dispute began recently when TOT refused to integrate 1.5 million new phone numbers from DTAC and True Move into its network, citing their refusal to pay its access charges.

A telecom company needs all other operators to integrate - or in technical terms, "translate" - its new numbers into their switching systems so that the numbers are recognised by other networks.

TOT's refusal to integrate the new numbers means calls from TOT's fixed-line phones cannot reach new numbers belonging to DTAC and True Move. Both cellular operators have already sold out the new numbers to subscribers.

I dont know the ins and outs of the dispute but I would say the cellphone companies have taken the p*ss out of their customers if they have sold the numbers prematurely!

In other parts of the word, the shareholders would be gathering lynch mobs to seek out the executives that made this type of decision.

This is called cutting off your nose to spite your face.

ICT minister says he will quickly find board for TOT

Information and Communication Minister Sitthichai Phokhaiya_udom (สิทธิชัย โภไคยอุดม) indicated he will quickly find a board of management to replace the entire board of TOT Plc. that resigned yesterday.

Mr. Sitthichai Phokhai_udom (สิทธิชัย โภไคยอุดม) said the resignation of the TOT board is considered a respectable act of showing responsibility, and he believed that the board must have considered the move with care. He said that personally he does not agree with announcing a resignation this way, but said that from now on the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of ICT would quickly find a new board for the company within 2 weeks, in order for it to continue the work.

TOT President Montri Suphaporn (มนตรี ศุภาพร) said the resignation of the board was to show responsibility for what has happened, and he believed that the company's operations would not become stagnant as there exists the managing director and other executives who can efficiently manage the work.

ICT Minister believes Gen.Saprang can resolve TOT issues

Information and Communication Technology Minister Sitthichai Phokai-udom (สิทธิชัย โภไคยอุดม) believes that Gen Saprang Kalayanimit (สะพรั่ง กัลยาณมิตร), the new president of TOT board, will be able to resolve issues facing TOT. Mr Sittichai said he is preparing to submit names of candidates for the TOT board member list.

The ICT Minister said further that he is glad that Gen.Saprang has accepted the post. Gen.Saprang is also a member of the Airport of Thailand’s (AoT) board. Six out of 10 board members of TOT Plc, including its chairman, resigned last Friday, citing their responsibility on the possibility that TOT may cause the state coffer lose the access charge revenue.

The resignation came after the Central Administrative Court earlier in the day ordered TOT Plc to enable the connection between its subscribers and additional 1.5 million phone numbers of Total Access Communication (DTAC) or consumers would be affected.

TOT's ex-chairman Montree Supaporn said the board has to show responsibility when it could not ensure that it could gain the access charge revenue for the state coffer and that it is facing the demand of DTAC for the compensation relating its refusal to integrate DTAC new numbers.

Administrative court orders TOT to open access for True Move numbers

The Central Administrative Court Monday issued an injunction requiring TOT Plc to allow True Move's phone numbers to access to its baseline phone numbers.

Earlier, TOT blocked the access of 1.5 million new numbers of True Move from accessing TOT's fixed lines after True Move stopped paying access charge.

True Move insisted to pay only the interconnection fees as regulated by the National Telecommunication Commission.

True Move filed the suit with the court, asking the court to order TOT to accept the interconnection fees instead of access charges.

The court agreed with True Move's request to order TOT to stop blocking True Move's numbers pending the hearing.

Bit of a simplistic view of things. Yet to see the day when TOT has altruistic aims. Its been a 5 or 7 year battle. If TOT had their way, we would still been on hold for 7 years to get a phone line, and have to pay 60,000 baht for it ( + tips to the installation guy ). Does anyone still remember that ?

Wanna go back, I have no love lost for TOT.
