A taxi driver on Koh Samui returned a handbag containing several valuables to a group of French tourists who had left it in his vehicle late on Sunday night.

Pol Lt Col Chatchiwin Nakmusik, an inspector at Bophud police station, said the taxi driver, Suriya Srisawang, 39, contacted police after he discovered that the group of French tourists had left behind a handbag containing 550 euros in cash, passports, a hotel key and other ID cards. Chatchiwin had taken the group from their hotel to Chaweng beach.

At the same time as he was handing over their belongings, the group were seeking help from tourist police at Chaweng beach. Officers there took them to meet the taxi driver at Bophud police station, where they gave the driver 50 euros as a gesture of thanks.

Suriya said he was happy to have been able to help them.

Every country has good, bad and indifferent people -- we are more alike than most care to consider.

Dare I ask how much their journey was to the beach...?

Were there less Chinese tourist arrivals last week or why do they promote this ?

still a few days left for the rest to catch up

???? it’s nothing to do with the people, it’s the press and Thailand’s all important image

the last taxi story was a negative.... this one is a positive.... the next will probably be a negative, etc etc.

Oh dear, how sad that a simple act of honesty here is deemed news worthy.  Speaks volumes to the general dishonesty.
