Shooting Last Night At Naiyang Beach

Yesterday (Friday) around 8pm, there was a shooting right in the middle of the tourist bars on NaiYang Beach. I had just dropped off a hotel customer. He called me 10 minutes later to say that a Thai man had walked up to a Thai woman who was at one of the tour company stalls and blasted her with a shotgun.

I'm not sure if she died or not. She was rapidly removed from the scene. Locals went out looking for the assailant and police arrived in numbers.

This is hardly great news for the tourist industry. At 8pm that area is full of tourists who would have witnessed everything.

So, I'm sure this incident will be hushed up. My hotel customer asked a Thai local what had happened and he said 'Oh, a tiger escaped and they had to shoot it!!!'

It is rather scary that life is so cheap. We had a murder just over the road to us a couple of months ago. A man (identity unknown) had his throat slashed. There were around 15 witnesses to this but the police just said that no one had seen anything......................

:o scary

More details. The woman is dead. Apparently she was the co-owner of a tour/taxi business. The other co-owner was the husband of a Thai woman and this dead woman had 'stolen' her husband from her.....

Condolences to the family.

I am sure that her family doesn't need to hear that her name is being smeared all over the internet, so lets keep the conjecture to a minimum.

Curious I didn't see where her name was mentioned either. Maybe I'm going blind! :D :D

Or is it some thing more obvious? :o

In a small community names are not necessary, are they? I was simply trying to forestall the usual conjecture and rumor that many members like to come up with, along with the abuse that some people feel the need to dish out.

Condolences to the familes envolved in this, my wife's cousin was shot (several times, none fatal) about a year ago due a jealous wife (my wife's cousin is one of the most unattractive woman I have ever seen).

Life sure can be cheap.

Well done sbk in pre-empting the insensativities that can often follow a report like this.
