Police are considering pressing charges against the owner of a coffee shop in Chon Buri's Sattahip district, who allegedly posted a video clip and photos of two models wearing only an apron and underwear while serving coffee to customers.

The photos and video clip, meant as an advertisement to attract more visitors to the coffee shop, were widely shared on Thai social media with many criticising the move.

Plu Ta Luang superintendent Pol Colonel Thanachai Usahakit said officers had already summoned the coffee shop owner and the models to report to police late on Sunday.

He said the image could be a violation to the Computer Act because the images were uploaded to a computer accessible by the public. Violations are punishable with a jail term of up to five years and/or a fine of up to Bt100,000.

Shop owner Prasong Sukkorn said he posted the ad “with the intention to be sexy, not lewd or tarnishing to the society.” The 50-year-old owner of Coffee On Day near the Kasempol intersection in Tambon Plu Ta Luang, said the idea stemmed from an offer from a model to help promote the coffee shop in exchange for free coffee.

But, said Thanachai, “even though the owner said he had no ill intention and had already removed the clip and photos, the offence had already been committed.”

Yes, I believe so.

Coffee, and hot tea too for that matter, they need to be covered.

Have a look at any agogo Facebook page.

A lot more "sexiness" will be on show.

What's the difference to here? All Gogo's pay a dozen different police departments monthly.

What really should be investigated is the police (the guardians of the law)  receiving these cash payoffs.

I always wonder where these complaining members of the public are hiding, I never meet them.

Must be a select group of nagging old (deleted), with nothing better to do like this disturbing ado.

There are other things in Thailand to get agitated about, like the daily carnage on the roads.

Whilst many of the comments are rather amusing and witty, a lot of people do not seem to grasp how serious things are becoming here with their new laws regarding computer crime.

It will have the effect of stamping out any disagreements or differing opinions, effectively bullying and forcing many people to be afraid to express an opinion.

Imagine the power they can have? They can basically just about jail anyone they want using this act as an excuse, from something as simple as a Facebook post, they can jail their own citizens at will.

Talk about 1984 and big brother, this place is going to be worse than anything Well's dreamed up!

To those comparing a day time coffee shop which school uniformed kids can walk into to and a gogo bar which uniformed kids (real school uniforms I mean) can't walk into in areas real school kids tend not to hang out, need your heads read. If it was a dude with his tackle being hidden and p4 girl or boy students were allowed to see it daily, bearing in mind a basic understanding of human behaviour.... Would it really be ok???

I feel such people are letting their own social habits get in the way of holistic  thinking.

Which is different than the bar girls in Pattaya or Phuket or at Nana Plaza , or in Patpong, or Soi Cowboy in which way???  Envelops methinks.  Said owner did not pre-arrange monthly envelops.

Yes, that is of course the only difference between a coffee shop and a gogo bar

Thank god we've finally given an excuse for our Brown Envelope Bots to swarm and buzz. Happiness!
