Is this then a computer crime (distorting facts using a computer and publishing lies via Internet)?

Of course not. This was committed by the junta to serve the junta and the junta is a benevolent entity, hence incapable of criminal behavior.

If the same had been committed by persons not affiliated with the government, then of course it would be a crime, because they have malicious intent.

You raise a good point. Looking at the criteria for a computer crime, this would seem to match some of the criteria. So if CSI LV can prove their allegations, and they've made some that they couldn't prove in the past; then let them provide that information with a complaint to the police and see what happens. However, if they can't prove anything, and they have been flagged by TVF in the past as a not reliable source, then they should be the ones in the dock!

Of course Prawit will never be charged with anything whatever.

You raise an interesting point about losing fear.In this context there are only two intelligent choices for the Junta, namely to accept its mission has been a failure and embrace democracy even in the knowledge it may get messy OR to crush all dissent ruthlessly and impose its agenda by force. What doesn’t make any sense is its current behaviour - aimless dithering punctuated by childish fits of pique.

Very concise and pertinent assessment of the situation, Jayboy.

I fear that as the public image of the junta unravels further and further and even more one-time junta supporters amongst the populace turn against them, the junta will get really vicious and use brute force to cling on to power. From their perspective, they now have nothing to lose. It must be obvious to them that no-way can they win a genuine election. For the first time I now encounter lots of previous junta-lovers having doubts about them or even turning away from them. This whole thing will not end sweetly. The junta will try all the 'legal' and lying tricks in the book (including fraudulent, no-choice 'elections') to maintain power, but when that fails to appease the People - as it will - the junta will unleash full brute force upon the Thais. The function of the Thai army is (and has been for decades) to protect the faux-elites from the Thai people - and they can and will do that, ruthlessly and without a qualm ...

I'm posting more on the BKK post forums now and the Junta is getting slammed on a daily basis mainly in the opinion articles.

Yes, if only the BKK Post and Nation had the foresight and intelligence to have reported honestly and impartially when the coup took place and afterwards. They were very much all for it and were happily cheerleading for the first couple years. Now they're upset? Too bad, you've lost your right to complain as you were part of the installation of the problem.

Might have been Russia, meddling in the polls :shock1:

regards worgeordie

Putin is hugely popular, is predictable and provides stability.
Proof of that is (a) the lack of opposition ( there is nothing to oppose is there !)
and (b) no suitable other candidates in the Presidential elections.
Surely no need for meddling.
