BANGKOK, 7th February 2018 (NNT)-Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha says the date of a general election will be determined after draft organic laws on the election of MPs and the Senate selection have been enforced.

In response to calls for an election date, Gen Prayut reiterated it could be set only after the enforcement of both draft organic laws which are still being vetted. He also denied having met local politicians to discuss political matters.

Regarding the Thai Niyom Yangyuen committee’s recent regional visit, Gen Prayut said it was aimed at coordinating efforts by all sectors to improve social equality and raise the standard of living for Thais nationwide.

Thailand is not ready for elections. Many countries fail when democracy is forced upon them due to too many political fractures wanting power.

When someone is in control and the country is ticking over then that's what makes Thailand unique.

Again with the bullshiiiiit organic laws. Delays excuses one after another. Sheesh!

Reminds me of Interpol and Red Bull boss. Questions such as have you applied for a blue alert or red alert or an alert to Interpol at all. Response, " excuseee ( In an Italian accent). No speak English". Ask Prawit that question and he will give you the time to respond as he has lots of watches! Borrowed of course!

Makes perfect sense when reading it backwards.  Must be a great decision. Aeeh, what's organic laws?

As the Senate members is selected by committees appointed by Prayut, he controls the timing of selection "enforcement." Just another potential excuse to further delay MP elections.
