PHUKET: Vendors who do not vacate the beachfront plots they occupy at Layan and Leypang on Phuket’s west coast in defiance of a Supreme Court judgement face having their businesses demolished after March 5.

The second – and final – warning was handed down at a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall attended by Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officials, Phuket Provincial prosecutors and the press this afternoon (Feb 13).

The vendors, mostly beachfront resturants catering to tourists, were first warned to vacate the beachfront plots by official notices posted by the DSI on Nov 16 last year.

They might wind down until the comeback at the start of next high season. Anyone seen the state of Surin beach recently - that didn't last long?

PHUKET: MaAnn Samran, chief of the Cherng Talay Tambon Administration Organisation (OrBorTor) has been directly questioned about his ability to carry out Supreme Court evictions on 178 rai of beachfront land at Layan and Leypang beaches, on Phuket’s west coast.

The final warning for the evictions was handed down in an order made public at a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall yesterday (Feb 13), when occupiers of the beachfront plots – mostly restaurants and other businesses that cater to tourists – were given until March 5 to vacate their plots or face having thier businesses demolished.

Testing Mr MaAnn on his conviction to carry out the evictions was Wanchat Choonhathanorm, a senior prosecutor at the Phuket’s Public Prosecutor’s office, which operates under the Office of the Attorney General.

Does this include the Dream Beach Club, and the large restaurant/bar beside it at the car park at the north end? I can't tell from the photos in the articles.

Sits back and waits for Ma-Ann's next excuse as he continues to fill his pockets. He must have some dirt on people REALLY high up to continue to get away with things.

Strange the 'casino' at Manik, which is probably within his grasp as well never gets raided.

5th of March D-Day!

So is it safe to assume all the remaining businesses on these beaches have packed up and left?

Where can I find the "casino" so I can put down a bet that they all haven't packed up and left?
