The monks were on their way and Mrs Owl was on the loo. I had to do the bizzo. I called them over and tipped the rice in the big pot. They chanted their 'thank you' song and were on their way.

 

Later the wife asked if everthing went OK. "Yes; I did it good."

 

"Now you will go to the moon when you die; but not where the Americans are."

 

"Did you get on your knees?"

 

"No!"

There are Farang doing stuff like this all over the place . They do not crave or desire publicity. They simply feel that they can contribute something to try and offset the imbalance that the poorer people of Thailand suffer in a country that does so little to take care of its’ people. If you tell a Thai about the level of social assistance available in your country they think you are a liar ! I know many Thai people being paid 315 baht a day as a shop assistant . In my country the rate is 470 baht an HOUR . “ Oh but the cost of living is higher in your country” .. yes , but I could list so many household items that are as expensive in Thailand. Basic living , without added “luxuries” is only a little more expensive. 

This piece of news is akin to something worthy of Nazi Propaganda , no pun intended and respect to this particular German. No bitching involved on my part, except against the government that neglects it’s own.

         I doubt that the German gentleman needs to lit up 36 incense sticks to change anything because he wouldn't be afraid of ghosts and his own shadow. 

 

       The little man could basically learn a lot from the "Farang."

 

Make him to the PM, please, problems solved, also in the long run.

 

A sort of German educational system wouldn't be bad and a guy with common sense who doesn't need to wait for friends to pass away to get his wristwatches will be a win-win situation.

English teachers who can't have a little conversation in English would be replaced by those who are good.

 

No teacher will ever lose face anymore because he'd introduce the "show face and let the students ask you questions, scheme."

 

Students could then fail, the schools would be free, not just on paper and the O-net tests would be replaced by something that's really good. 

 

No more luxury tax for "ordinary cars" like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, etc..available for all expats in LOS would be great. 

 

I'd even start to eat Wiener Schnitzel, Cordon Bleu, Bratwurst & Sauerkraut, plus a lot of other stuff more often.

 

And just out of sympathy for the new Thai hero, I'd also drink German beer and delicious wine, that would be much cheaper than the local often undrinkable stuff.

 

 

 

  I'm certain that he'd know what to do with the Jetski scammers and all the others. I'd vote for him. Even in Lederhosen...

I realise I should not have add "old grumpy", "only embittered heart" would have been enough.

Some TVForum members have a lot of time on their hands. They simply post rubbish even when they are not interested in the topic. However now and again a thread comes along where virtully all the posts are straight-up (poison BIL by Rc).

Sorry, but if you are from the UK, and you include the following in your cost of "basic living" then you are way out of line with "a little more expensive":-

 

Council Tax, electricity, gas, water, mortgage/rent (*TV licence, house insurance, mobile telephone costs)  

* Figures in brackets may not specifically qualify as "basic living" 

 

The only thing in the UK that is only a "little more expensive" is the cost of food, but one thing that is cheaper is the cost of second hand cars!

Fully agree with you mate. i witnessed this myself 23 years ago when i gave an amount of money to my Thai sister in law as she was suffering from a tumor and her husband had passed away 3 weeks before that date. She had NOTHING anymore! Next day i drove the entire family to a temple complex for a buddhist holiday. Thousands of Thais there, ONLY one farang....  At one moment i saw that sister in law handing ALL "my" money to one of those orange priests who was brainwashing them via a microphone. Later on at home i heard via  my Thai wife that that monk PROMISED her that she would heal for 100% only if she handed that money to him.... Of course she handed my gift to him... Here is the "joke" : 3 weeks later she DIED due that tumor. That was the day i lost all respect in all what has to do with these guys and their "casinos"...

I assume you have not experienced the practices of other religions.

The biggest money grabbers I have ever seen are Christian.  Telling people in mass to give their money and God will heal and repay them 10 fold.  Some horrific stories of people taking out loans on their homes and turning over the money.
