Me and my Thai girlfriend are set to get married in Thailand next month, before I will go back to my country. The plan is then to get her the spouse visa so she can stay with me. This will take a long time as I stayed in Thailand the last 5 months without a stable source of income that meets the requirements for a spouse visa. The requirement is that I have to show a stable source of income of at least the last 6 months. So I will have to work 6 months before my girlfriend can apply for the visa. Best case scenario: we will be together after 9 months give or take.

I was thinking of getting her a tourist visa after 3 months so she can stay with me during the summer for a month. However, Ive read that it wont be easy for her to get the tourist visa after we are married, as the embassy may think that she wont go back to Thailand and we are trying to evade the spouse visa application.

I will also try to visit her in Thailand but this depends on the amount of free time that I will get with my new job. If she cant get the tourist visa, then I just might be able to visit her twice in the 9 month period mentionned before, each visit lasting not more than a week. Not a very cheerful prospect.

We could however postpone our marriage. I could get her a tourist visa for this summer and we could marry in my country? Ive read that embassies dont very much like it when people marry on a tourist visa though. Are there any consequences? Maybe the spouse visa application will be harder for us if we go through with this?

Thank you in advance for the help.
