re entry into Thailand after arrest there

Featured Replies

Hi, just after some info please. My son was arrested 2 years ago in Phuket with a small amount of cannabis, his friend had actually bought it, when offered some and my son ended up stupidly carrying it. A stupid drunken mistake, cost the equvilent of £4500, which we had to put in the police officers personal bank account by Western Union, so he could get his passport back to fly home the next day. He left the police station of his own free will, he was not deported, he said that he signed some papers, but left with no paperwork and there is nothing in his passport other than his exit stamp. The police officer even said to come and see her next time he is in Thailand, no wonder ! He is now involved in the martial art of jui Jutzu and wants to go back there to train. He really has no idea where to start looking to obtain this advice.

Get a 5k deposit off him in advance and give him a lift to the airport and keep the bobbies number just in case.

File a complaint with proof to the appropriate instance within the Thai Government dealing with corruption, against the rotten female cop.

And if I was you, I would dissuade the boy from going back to Thailand.

And last, hope he is paying for his thrills and not you once again ?

All the best.

I don't condone corruption but it sounds like the cop did the OP's son a favour.  Had a bribe not been paid, the OP's son could have been looking at jail time - no fun - and might have even been blacklisted.  Drugs in Thailand is big time bad news.
