Depends how one defines "swamp" and "swamp dweller". She's not inept, and she's already in high position within the CIA. Without singing her praises or supporting her moral choices, she's still a better choice than Pompeo ever was or will be. At least not someone who needs to learn the ropes again. It is disheartening, however, that one ends up lamenting (or at least regretting) the dismissal of people such Tillerson, or considering the merits of Haspel. Goes to show the pool Trump is drawing on.

There has been speculation that DT wanted Romney to be Sec of State but Putin wanted Tillerson.  Vlad and Rex had a positive history and got along handsomely.  With this bit of news coming to light and oncoming accusations of treason he can now say "Tillerson, he's gone, no issue there."  A few more weeks and it'll be "who?  Tillerson was never Sec of State."

 

DT thinks firing people puts them out of sight and out of mind.  When all the doo-doo piles up and all these former employees are subpoenaed DT is going to experience his own "night of the living dead."

 

Anyway, DT's goal has been acheived: America is great again!  His new mission is "keep America great."

He was fired by tweet. His disgusting boss, the so called president had wanted to fire him while he was actively doing diplomacy in Africa. Kelly had to beg him not to do that. That was his impulse. So much of what he does is about impulse, like an unruly toddler. I respect Tillerson for not mentioning "trump" one time in his farewell speech. That speaks volumes. He was working for an abusive boss that humiliates anyone under him that doesn't kiss his tuchus 100 percent of the time.

The photo is culturally correct with the dumb American smiling like a crazy man and the Russian not smiling. I don't think Putin has a hairy chest, does he?

Tillerson was in favor of too many aspects of the Iran deal to suit Trump.  Plus, Pompeo is pro-life.  A much better Secretary of State.

Yes, did you think I presented it as something other than my opinion?

Especially the insanity part.

The civility part, that "trump" does not behave with anything resembling normal civility I think is a stronger charge, except for perhaps for people that were raised in a barn. I don't like what he's doing to the children. They're going to think this is how a normal president acts. The damage will be very serious and very long term.

Trump boasted he would run into a school shooting situation even if unarmed does not have the balls and decency to tell Tillerson face to face? Actions speak louder than words.

 Lots to not like regarding Tillerson, but he was one of the few adults on the staff and has real world experience in leading a very large corporation and being held accountable for his decisions, unlike Trump & family mom and pop business writ large with no accountability.

 It is chilling that new SofS is said to be "on the same wavelength" as Trump. Among other things, they want to get out of Iran multi national treaty. Why would N Korea ever agree to a treaty with this administration? Erratic, impulsive and uniformed entities not exactly the sort you would make long term agreements with or trust
