Hey people of Chiang mai , I need some emergency advice

I am living in Chiang mai and yesterday at around 1pm all of sudden my lower back got hurt and I cant move much, I am in bed and cant walk, I can barely stand, had to crawl to the toilet.

I am not sure what to do, I think I need some kind of a shoot to release the muscles , but going to the hospital is not something I can do because like I mentioned I cant even stand up. calling an ambulance for this seems like way too much.

is there some kind of call in doctor service in Chiang mai someone aware of? or maybe some other idea someone here have?

much thanks in advance

You may have a slipped disc . Google the symptoms and your going to need an inflammatory med so you can get mobile again google treatment.

I didnt see any home call doctors on google. Do you know anyone in your building? Can you call the condo office and ask them to send someone to your room and tip them to go to the chemist?

other than that if your immobilized an ambulance may be your only option

I use these they are cheap and very effective, made in Thailand. I think max dose is 225mg/day but you can check the pack but if your a big guy you could add an extra 50mg no probs. Shows a guy holding his lower back on the pack

they sell generic ibuprofen in doses up to 800 mg.

they also sell branded neurofen as 400 mg tablets.

not sure if ibuprofen will work on something like a slipped disc or back spasm though.

Surely you would be better getting professional help at a hospital.Pain killers may work but just masking the pain wont fix the problem.Ring  RAM or Suan Doc  and get an ambulance and wheelchair ,sounds like you will need x rays at least.

Good luck, back injuuies can be very complex.

I stepped off a high curb in the market ,with a bag or potatoes in one hand

and a bag of onions in the other, all i heard was a pop, like popping that

bubble wrap, no pain,nothing,

Next morning when i awoke, thinking something wrong here, legs won't move,

no feeling in the family jewels,I'm thinking my lifes over, anyway got to Lana

hospital, where they started treatment, tablets, hot massage, cannot remember

what else as it was about 20 years ago, every day for 6 months i went there

slowly regaining feeling, and at first staggering about,If I remember correctly

it was the princely sum of 170 THB per visit, best money i have ever spent

as in the end i could walk OK.

So my advice to OP get yourself to a hospital, back, spine injuries are serious.

Would be about 400 now for a visit to the Physio

How times have changed

I would recommend a Ambulance and a visit to a Hospital Plus a Xray

I have had back problems for over 30 years now

It come occasionally but i do water exercises now

i find this helps with recovery time now

I would load up the Ibuprofen till your ears ring

Then a super hot shower to get some mobility

Then get to Mungkala for accupuncture treatment

Worked for me when that happened once.

I had to have a wheelchair to get off plane

But from the first try at Mungkala it got better

He told me would take 6-8 visits (500 baht a session) & it did and in the end I was fine.

I have a lower disc problem and visit a good massage therapist once each week to keep ligaments and muscles loose. I also started hanging from a bar for up to 1 minute at a time. I also thought this was nonsense when I first heard about it but it seems to allow everything in your back to slip back into it's correct position. Maybe coincidence, but now the lower back pain I've suffered for the last couple of years has pretty much gone.

All very well but first it needs to be diagnosed by a professional probably by x ray at a hospital which is as I previously posted.

Not every case is the same and you don't mess around with lower back pain.

Getting medical advice solutions, sight unseen, on a forum is not advisable

You may want to have someone get you a back brace. Pop it on, tighten it up; and make your way to the hospital.

Call Uber, give the driver a few extra Baht to help you on your journey.

Don't over do the ibuprofen, bad for the liver. Be careful with excess aspirin products, can cause bleeding.

This is good advice.  One of those lower back wide belt supports could help, as could Norgesic, widely available at retail pharmacies here.  It's a combination of a muscle relaxant and paracetamol (tylenol).  Naproxen, also widely available can be effect with muscle pain.  But, watch the dosing of these meds because of potential for liver damage.

Uber is usually very good and can get you to a hospital in comfort.  If you really can't get yourself into a car, then you could contact this private ambulance service:  Prohealthy at 082 028 2770 and they can come to your place with a stretcher that can convert into a chair for access in the smallest of elevators, or even carry you down steps on a stretcher.  This is service is the type that "takes Grandma to her kidney dialysis appointments", when Grandma is too old and frail to get out of bed.  They're very professional and have up-to-date transport equipment and reasonable prices.  It helps if someone who speaks some Thai contacts them.  https://www.facebook.com/Prohealthy-cnx-1488221854763287/

Be careful with these drugs. Can for many cause Nausea or Vomiting. Most drugs can be found quickly and easily here for such pain as Arcoxia or Celebrex for muscle joint pain, but I would not be doing anything unless under doctors orders.

Uber has been good for me in the past when needing to get to a hospital in pain. Thanks for the heads up with the phone number about the Ambulance.

I wouldn't call Prohealthy an "Ambulance" service, but rather medical transport.  They're not the ones to call if you're having a heart attack or stroke; their vehicles aren't equipped for medical emergencies.  Rather, they can handle routine transport, including for those who need oxygen and they are cheaper than what a hospital charges for an ambulance.  Plus, their staff is really skilled in moving people, including large western people.  I've seen them in action.  They want to work with scheduled appointments.  As I said -- they aren't really an emergency service from what I've seen.

You've damaged your back and as a result you now can't move, you can't even get to the toilet unless you crawl and the advice offered is to take anti-inflammatories and wait it out! What planet are these advisors on and what do you need to have happened before you get yourself to a hospital now, are you waiting for something more severe to happen, complete paralysis maybe. An ambulance from say RAM will cost around 2k, a couple of locals who can pick you up and put you on the back seat of their car and drive you there much less. Jeeze guy, whatever were you thinking!

Are you able to do goosestepping? Do it around your condo for 2 minutes. It stretches the hamstrings and takes pressure off the back. Also eat kale.
