Phnom Penh is not one of my recommended locations to get a non-o visa for retirement. They seem reluctant to do them.

The last report of them doing one was some time ago and the member doing the application had to wait hours before the application was accepted using the 800k baht in the bank option.

You could apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at your local immigration office if you have a income letter from you embassy.

interesting  did you have official proof of income like embassy letter etc??

i had an official pension proof stamped at both embassy & ministry of foreign affairs, but 10 years old. on top of that i had recent pension statement and copy/paste internet bank statement in home country since i have to get inside thailand and open bank account before i can transfer money,

but i did calculate to show how much it was in THB.

anyway, he would have none of it, if i couldnt show 800k in thai bank, he would not issue non O 90 day visa

No need for another visa run. You can apply at the office in Jomtien.

You will need proof of income from your embassy and then have the signature on it verified by the Department of Consular Affairs of the MFA in Bangkok. Info for getting the verification is here (click to enlarge the English version). http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/services/6441/71860-ขั้นตอนการรับรองนิติกรณ์เอกสาร---Legalization-Proc.html

If applying in Jomtien, there are many agents who can handle the whole process for you. In fact, the Jomtien immigration office puts a lot of roadblocks in your way if you do not use agents (they get a cut of the agent fee).

For the signature verification you can do it it by mail.

For the income letter it depends upon what your embassy allows.

this looks doable, the embassy stamp alone should suffice IMO,

the thai ministry can not compete with my embassy with regards to info on my status, and if the thai ministry got any info at all on the matter,

its what my embassy give them

They want the signature on the income letter verified for a visa application. The Department of Consular Affairs has info for every consular officer on file along with their signature.

It is just a hurdle they put in to make it harder to do. It is not required when you do the extension of stay application.

There are a few offices that want it for every extension application.

altho in the end they wouldnt give me the visa anyway no matter what

I had an MFA stamped, recent embassy income doc, with bank-books proving the income was valid and being transferred to Thailand, but this did me no good at all with that desk at that office.  See here for what to expect, unless you pay an agent 15K baht or more to pay-off the person in charge of conversions there:

The only way it might work, is if you play up your medical condition, to go for sympathy.  Good luck.

That is only needed if you are having a translation certified.

What kind of fee are these agents charging for extension of stay + 90 day reports?

Good luck with that "go for sympathy". Once I just returned from Europe I had to go to immigration for extension of my visa which was to expire the next day. Unfortunately I got an inflammed appendix in that night and had an emergency operation the next day. Just stayed 1 day in hospital and then went to immigration the following day (one day late). Had to pay overstay and received a stamp to leave the country in the following 7 days.
