visa requirements for thai lady

Featured Replies

hi, can anybody offer some sensible practicle advise--  i  have an NZ passport, retired and live in my own condo at P attaya..

i wish to take my thai lady to nz for holiday in july, then 3wks in Hawaii for my sons wedding, then back to to NZ for 2more wks, then return to bkk.

i have already paid for my own flights, both expensive, so before i book for thai lady --i want to find out how difficult it will be for her to get an NZ and  US  tourist visas..

i have properties, family and very ample income in nz, so could be her gaurentor?  she  has no permanent job in thailand..but again , i can support her...

S he has no intention of working in  NZ or Hawaii...

roughly, how long would it take to get her visas, approximate cost ??

no negative or sarcastic replies thanks

I have no idea re NZ, but to get a US tourist visa, they want to see clear evidence of intention to return to Thailand e.g. ties here - job, property, family.

It is also a time consuming process. Do not make any bookings until visa is in hand.

You don't state what kind of Thai visa you have, perhaps retired here on an annual "retirement" extension?  If so, how long have you been doing this?

Son in the U.S., is he an AmCit already or there on a Green Card?

How long have you been with your girlfriend?  Does she, too, live with you in your condo?

Age, you and your GF?

A U.S. tourist visa runs $160 USD, and the paperwork process is a whole lot more complicated these days since the last time my Thai wife got one, about 12 years back.

Actually, depending you your As to the Qs above, I think your GF probably won't have a problem with a U.S. visa.

Note:  The interviewing Consular Officer is most interested in establishing that your GF will return to Thailand after your visit.  This will be pretty much tied to you, and if it looks like you'll be coming back, odds are that she will, too.

For you, looks good:  http://www.esta.us/newzealand.html

I can only comment regarding the US....it's a crap shoot

Before we were married and Mrs Ban moved back with me on a CR-1, we had tried for a tourist visa to visit when one of my daughters had a baby.

Couldn't fathom the rhyme or reason, but it was rejected, even though we had a home here, her kids were here, job, yada yada.

As previously said, don't book anything until that stamp is in the passport

My now wife had three U.S. tourist visas before we got hitched, first two were semi short term, max validity 6 months, by the time for the third one, reckon they were tired of seeing us and she got a 10-year visa.

In each case, it was my status in Thailand that the ConOff was most interested in.
