Hi,

My wife has been in the UK for 3 years now. She has been given an extension to stay for another 2 1/2 years. For the next visa application on the 5 year route, for the financial requirement can she apply with 9,300 GBP/year from myself (sponsor) and 9,300 GBP/year from my wife - 18,600/2 GBP/year?

As according to Appendix FM 1.7:
Income from salaried or non-salaried employment of the partner (and/or the applicant if they are in the UK with permission to work). This is referred to as Category A or Category B, depending on the employment history. See section 5 of this guidance.

I am looking to make a career change in this relaxed period but as a worst case if unable to find work just making sure we are able to get her British passport.

Hope you can help.

Regards,

Chris

Yes, as she is already in the UK the financial requirement of £18,600 can be met using a combination of the earnings of both her and yourself. Not a problem at all.
