How to answer the dreaded question ''What is British food like?''
Hearty and wholesome. Tell them we didn't conker the world on a packet of F'kin peanuts. 🙂 The British roast and proper English breakfast are to be savoured. The joke on British food is just that. Making a big comeback in the old country; as your op, look at the menus and local wine lists in a proper restaurant! Hamburgers? Salads? 🤣 Perhaps aside from the Italians, Spanish and Japanese, look at any one country's cuisine, bear bones, and it can be taken apart. French food is generally under-salted, overpriced, arty farty tripe and you'll need to eat again in 30 minutes. -

Canton DM-50 Soundbar stopped working
I turned it on after being off 2 months and after 30 seconds it shut off and won't come back on. It was great in it's heyday but it's getting pretty old. Is it worth trying to get fixed or just go out and buy a new sound bar? -

What Books are you Reading (2024)
I've been reading "Drunk: How We Sipped, Danced, and Stumbled Our Way to Civilization" by Edward Singerland, which, as the title implies, is about the important role alcohol has played in most cultures. Interesting reading especially now that alcohol is under attack for its alleged health hazards. I also read the two Penguin books, "Death and the Penguin" and "Penguin Lost" by Andrei Kurkov, a Ukranian writer. Highlights the sad politics of Ukraine through the eyes of a would be novelist who has been reduced to writing obituaries of people who are about to die. Kafkeque is the way I would describe it. -

How to answer the dreaded question ''What is British food like?''
Never ask as I really don’t want to know. Looking at the breakfast menu around Pattaya restaurants I’ve come to the conclusion one has to be raised on British food to like it. That being said the American pickings aren’t that great either in Pattaya. So I’m limited to about 4 venues I rotate. Not quite as bad as the Philippines. The land of “Not Quite Right “. It’s great being back in America for the food. (Not fast food) -

Do you: a. Find them insufferable? b. Find they pitiable? c. Find they amusing? None of the above, as I am one - so dear fellow sling ya hook in another direction
