Is it possible to extend a Visitors Visa of a Thai National whilst they are on holiday in Australia?

She does not have condition 8503 - No Further Stay as a condition on her current visa.

Yes a new visa will be issued cost $205AUD plus a chest x-ray and comply with the financial requirements you can get it done in about 3 business days. The applicant will have to visit an Immigration office. The form is in English.

The chest x-ray is about $100, immigration will give you the form and address of the nearest HSA centre. They won't send her for an x-ray unless they intend to give you the new visa.

I found that the local immigration office was very nervous about granting an extension unless it was specifically for tourism purposes, any relationship evidence provided will be ignored. Best to give an itinerary of travel intentions and a stat dec on your commitment to provide suport. They will want to see a bank statement with a balance of at least $1000 per month that you want to extend plus a confirmed plane ticket home or money to purchase a ticket.

You should get an extension but it will probably have an 8503 condition placed on it.

What is her current visa.....?

Had a look at the 601 form and I cant see where it says she has to have a chest x ray.....but then again that doesnt mean that they wont ask for one.

Have a look at information form 1163i 'Health requirements for temporary entry to australia' - a chest xray is required for a stay of more than 3 months, full medical for more than 12.
