I’ve had a strange occurrence today. My MS Office Pro 2016 was slow, then hanging and I decided to use the fix it option under control panel. Program remove- change fix.

It took way too long and showed at the end that something didn’t work out. It wasn’t activated anymore and telling me that it’s not genuine?

Because I couldn’t remember the key I had given in, I thought MS would fix that for me, but the guy from the support desk then told me that this key was activated too many times and I should contact the vendor.

I have images on external drivees and made a system restore that went well and all is fine again. I was wondering if somebody had used my key, as I had Trojan horses that were found by Kaspersky.

Does anybody have an idea what it could have been? Thanks in advance for any answers.

Some keys have a fixed number of times they can be reactivated. And if you happen to buy one of those from Ebay that's already reached its activation limit - 1, then, though it is genuine, you can't reactivate and you'll need to buy another one. This is one reason that some of them are sold cheaply. Something to keep in mind. Me, I manage to avoid need to reactivate or get so much mileage off one activation that I don't mind getting another key . . . they'e so cheap anyway.

Thanks, that's a good explanation. But no problem, as my backup from this month brought it back to normal. It's good to know.

P.S. Had mine activated about 18 months ago.

I guess, should that be true, and more people will use the same key, they won't be able to activate their system.
