Taking natural mood stabilizers whilst living in Thailand

I found St Johns wort to be a great natural anti-depressant. Highly recommended. Maybe not so much for anxiety but helps keep the black dog at bay.

Forget pills. Its all in your mind. Change your thoughts. Read, eg. The power of positive Thinking, among others. Thats how I got over getting all upset reading some of the junk on here from the keyboard warriors. And then, I packed up and came back to Oz, giving it a year, if not happy, will move on. Dont stagnate, change "friends " if they upset you, etc. Today may  be the last day of your life, so, live today as if it is the last. (I dont mean cry in your

beer either).

Not true. Diet has a major impact on moods, energy etc

Agree.  OP... tackle the CAUSE of your mood swings, anxiety, etc not just take pills to cover it up.

Also never 'try' to do more exercise... actually DO IT.  The more you are out of the house in the fresh air, socialising and just walking about in the sunshine the better you will feel.

And, exercise does not have to be running, going to the gym etc.  just a walk or cycle ride is enough.

False belief, wives tale. Start worrying about what you eat just gives you something else to get upset about. Dont argue with me, I no speak with forked tongue.

Totally rubbish article... and not a single reference to any research by the 'scientists'.

Even reading it, it contradicts itself and is misleading.

If this was written by a child at school they would get a FAIL.

If that is what you believe, why are you so depressing then?  And, in keeping with my advise, I;m not reading anymore on this topic, too many depressing comments. Off to Cottesloe for a swim in our crystal clear ocean , West Oz. Bye.

Why make false claims?

Mountain of research on diet.

If science can "prove" one thing, then it's the fact that it is not known why some poeople are more prone to suffer from "mood-instability" than others. Likely a genetic thing (chemical imbalance in the brain and/or neuronal electric impulses not "firing" correctly?)

How to cure something that we know so little about?

Surely this will open the doors for a myriad of snake oil salesmen offering their potions (guaranteed to work).

I grew up in a simpler world. The village doctor used to prescribe: "Brew-up a tea with herbs. Make sure the alcohol content is at least 45 %. How the alcohol gets in there is not important". :saai:With the well meaning addition "work more and think less!" It was a simpler world back then.

Of course as long as we live in a world that gets crazier by the day, no wonder that more and more people suffer from conditions that we conveniantly call "unstable mood conditions".
Cheers.

It was also found to have negative side effects and as will all 'natural' medicines it does not mean it is safe. Opium is natural but can have negative side effects if misused.

I find is amusing when people think if something is 'natural' is automatically healthy and has healing / health benefits.

Would they go out into the woods and eat a load of poisonous toadstools?  After all they would be organic, free range, none GM and have no pesticides or fertilizers on them.

Todays Headline in my newspaper in Switzerland: Cabbage and Broccoli contain a large amount of cancer causing agents.  90% of laboratoty mice have died of cancer before their time.

To be on the safe side, I recommend Beer Chang for breakfast, dinner and souper.

Cheers.

Research shows some things are harmful and some things beneficial.

That's why you look at research.

And one year they will tell you not to eat something as its really bad for your health... then a few years later they are saying the research as shown that that think is really a super food (which later they change to say there are no super foods) and it goes round and round.

Eat a balanced diet with lots of variety.  Don't over eat a few particular kinds of foods for either their taste or for supposed health benefits.  Can't go wrong that way.
