Featured Replies

No wai for him and a 500 bht fine!

Instead He isin jail and will have to pay all medical costs and lawyers fees plus additional compensation for the victim before he can even think about getting out of jail.

Doesnt work the other way round.

  • Complete idiot, the farang. Lucky he did not crack the skull of the Thai. The Thai should be compensated AND the idiot should be locked up for a few weeks.

" He told the police that he didn't know what he was doing" He's not allowed to say that, that's reserved for Thai's only.   regards worgeordie

There is a guy on forums who is impersonating a Judge , what should his sentence be ?

I order you to be held for contempt of court. :cheesy:

The American guy took a signpost of this Thai guy from the meeting point stand, and refused to give it back to the Hotel guide. The Thai guy followed him and asked about this, he merely stopped the guy to ask him a question.

It looks like the Thai guy touch him and he became stress out and due to his medicine doesn’t remember anything TIT

I think the headline of the Article is quite "off-mark",  The American didn't attack the Thai "because his flight was cancelled".  The American was assaulted by the Thai guy who refused to let him pass so it resulted in a self defense take down.  Let's get the news right and hope the Judge can see through the fake news reporting.

It's always good to look at both sides and don't take for granted what's in the news.

From the video alone we cannot know the whole story.

I have come close to punching one who grabbed my arm and wouldn't stop pestering me and when told no for the 3rd time, became abusive. We only see an excerpt of the event. It's always best to see the entire event.

This is the real problem with TVF News.

Its more like TVF Detective School, just enough information to arouse interest and get the comments started.

You would think after years of this we should get better at this game.

Never let a crisis go to waste. The Thai was touching him in the chest which is technically an assault so I would argue self defense which this Farang is NOT doing. Stupid ****, No ? The Thai can negotiate the highest restitution payout at this point of proceedings, Sure ... !

"The Thai was touching him in the chest which is technically an assault ...."

Is that factually / legally true or just your convenient opinion?

Seems odd that right at the beginning of the clip the Thai guy had the sign in his hand and was impeding the American guy. Nevertheless the American then proceded to attack him.

Odd...

We have all heard the expression, the Ugly American. It has nothing to do about

looks, but about their attitude. There are a lot of the me, me crowd, and this guy

was pissed that his flight was cancelled. He takes out his frustration on the Thai

fellow, then tries to buy his way out of trouble, That is suspicious, which makes me

believe he is not mental, except in immaturity. Jerk deserves what ever he is going

to get in the court.

Geezer

Judging from afar, without proof of anything. Reminds me of Skripal and Douma...

I hope that his next flight is at least 3 months from now.

There was a whole documentary about the crazy antics at the airport around 2015.

There was an even better film that came out in 1980.

I reckon you missed the part about the broken arm. Otherwise it should be treated the same.

American man beats down Thai man and gets Thaigeezer sympathy, Brit man beats wife to death and gets Thaigeezer angst. Both assaults are unacceptable.

I'm glad you lot are not on the Supreme Court!

To be fair the Thai certainly had something to do with it but the guy clearly over reacted.

How very brave of him and a sensible reaction considering he had to let off steam, he will have a lot of time to meditate on anger and its consequences.

I wonder if the American would qualify to carry fire arms 'for his own protection' back home?

A lot of you are bigots saying this character was violent simply because he's American. I'll remind you that almost every issue of TV has stories of farang men of all nationalities beating on somebody. It has nothing to do with nationality. And by the way, the term "Ugly American" never had anything to do with describing the behavior of Americans. The term came from the novel and movie (released in 1963 with Marlon Brando) relating to U.S. diplomatic failures in Southeast Asia in the 1950s and early 1960s. My very good friend, a woman from Chiang Mai, married an Aussie, went to Oz with him and he proceeded to beat on her and she finally wound up in a hospital. Meanwhile look at the behavior of two of Australia's Hollywod ex-stars. Shall we start a "typical Commonwealth" type? How about a typical British football hooligan? Any more stereotypes? I think the closest to the true stereotypes are the newly middle class Chinese tourist groups.

It's not a typical anything, it's an infantile man who has no control over himself, I suspect he will have some time to learn humility. The UK also seems to have its fair share of violence at the moment.

How come nobody knows how to spell "loser"? It's not rocket science. My trousers are looser now because I lost weight. A thug is a loser.  When I gamble I always lose. Oops, my trousers are loose. Clear now?

A broken arm, thats classed as GBH, not a few weeks, 3 years with no remission.
