So should the people who supported the PTP hang their head in shame too.. as they run under the banner of the PTP before ?

For the record I hold all the Taksin Govts and the one imposed by the military in equal contempt, all of them rotten to the core imho.

How do you feel about the current PM seeking advice from such a family and giving them positions of power again when all the time he preaches morality and anti corruption? These are the only people he feels he can learn politics from......think about that.

The PM is a sham with his anti corruption stance.. he is anti corruption if it does not influence HIS friends. So no argument there. Still ill judge the PM again after i see how the welfare corruption / the school corruption / the temple corruption has been handles. He might redeem himself a bit if he does that well. He would still be a hypocrite but at least some corruption would be taken down.

I think its real bad to have people like this support the PM, but its just a ploy to get as many people away from the PTP and get in as an independent PM (i would hate to see that happen, unless of course he really has enough votes for a majority and I don't see that happening)

The words 'former mayor of Pattaya' tell you all you need to know about the legitimacy of these appointments.
He was elected to the Mayor position twice in a row by Pattaya residents....then the coup and no voting allowed...his term ran out and the army appointed a new Mayor all by themselves.

Selective memory? As I recall everybody complained about it at the time.

The junta is not "equally bad", they are far, far worse than any elected government since even the 90's.

Shame on you for supporting their power grab. Hope you now realise what a fool you look to the rest of us mate.

Shame on you for not reading.. I don't support them at all as you can see from my replies in the topic. I know its confusing for you but I dislike the junta and I dislike the Shins. I support neither.

Choosing members of this particular family to advise the PM on politics shows exactly the sort of regime he has in mind for the future.

All the Junta lovers should hang their heads in shame.

No. It shows that Chonburi province is recognized as a long-time benefactor of successive Thai governments, elected and otherwise and the legality of that largess has never been questioned. Furthermore, it is a huge economic powerhouse, typically NOT aligned with the traditional power brokers of Bangkok. It has a large, growing, middle-class voting demographic and a lot of them are north easterners working in the factories and service industry. How you treat these near neighbors is of growing political importance in Bangkok, far outstripping the southern-based Democrats for relevance and surpassing the more recent, northern-based influence of the Shinawatra clan.

Kamnan Po is their old man.

He is extremely famous in Thailand as a leading mafia figure, the sons are too.

He's never seen the inside of a cell don't kid yourself.

He was 'on the run' for years but was actually still living at the family home, in plain sight.

When he was 'captured' a few years back, he was swiftly transferred to a cushy hospital because of health reasons.

None of these gangsters ever go to jail, why do you think so many foreign criminals flock here? It truly is a gangster's paradise.

Ok, I was going with what was reported in the op.

Now that a few posters have revealed the history of this family. My question is did P invite them or did they invite themselved?

Its relevant in this topic as a large political clan just jumped ship and broke lose from the PTP. That you don't like it is of no concern of mine. I dislike both junta and PTP and find it funny that they both have support of the same criminal elements.. says a lot.

It's not that I don't like it frankly I don't care but their connection to the PTP before is largely irrelevant that's what crooks do run with the foxes and hunt with the hounds. And you weren't using it in the context of this argument your quote was "should people who voted for the PTP hang their head in shame too" what has that got to do with these clowns jumping ship. The old Thaksin the boogeyman story is getting a little played out.

I disagree.. if someone specifically uses these guys to discredit the junta then there is no harm in me pointing out that these guys were before supporting the PTP by doing so I discredit the PTP too.

I guess you rather not see that, just showing they are both equally bad.

That you think its played out is of no concern to me.  I dislike both sides and if possible would do my best to have a go at both of them when possible.

There are rumours of 4 faction leaders all with the letter s as the initial letter in their first name, preparing to support Prayuth:

Sonthaya, leader of Palang Chon Party

Suchart Tancharoen, leader of the Ban Rim Nam faction based in Chachoengsao province

Somsak Thepsuthin, leader of a faction based in Sukhothai

I can't remember the 4th group but it could be the Sasomsub family from Nakhon Pathom though none of the members have a first name beginning with s.

Another block in the wall. How to build political support one unethical move at a time. Pray for Thailand.

You probably right and it could also be the Sanoh fraction. However these are small parties with a dozen or so politicians. Even if BJT and CTP aligned with the military, the coalition will not have enough to create a parliament impasse that will allow the appointed senators to play a role to appoint a non elected Prayut. The game changer still rest with the Dem decision.

I assume Prayuth will now bestow a blanket amnesty on the whole family for any past, present or future illegal activities, and pro-democracy activists will start receiving "visits", but not by the army or police.
