"o" Type Visa: 3 Month Vs 3 Month Multiple Entry

Recommended Posts

Married to a Thai woman, who has a verifiable salary of 20,000 baht per month. We have a daughter, Thai born, 11 months....

Have gone from business visa, to marriage visa, to 4 tourist visas to this 3 month O visa,,,,is it as renewable as a "multiple entry"? (I feel I was misdirected by a charlatan in Laos recently(nothing to do with the government, just a private citizen) who dissuaded me from applying for a multiple entry.

Don't have the 200,000 or the 400,000 baht presently.

All you can get at Thai Embassy in Vientienne is a 90 day, single-entry Class O visa. After 90 days, you will have to go back and get another one. Once you enter Thailand, the visa is cancelled (they stamp "used" on it). You now have a 90 day entry permit. If you need to depart Thailand, you should obtain a re-entry permit, which allows you to keep your current entry permit from being cancelled. The fee for a single-entry re-entry permit is,1,000 baht - for a multiple -entry reentry permit,it is 3,800 baht. These may be obtained at an Immigration office, or at Don Muong International Airport. Good luck!

If you need to depart Thailand, you should obtain a re-entry permit,

Will point out that this is if you need to depart during the 90 days of your present stay and intend to return with some time remaining. If you leave for a new visa at or near the end of your present stay you do not want a re entry permit as it is only valid up to the date your present stay ends.

You were conned by "the charlatan in Laos".

The multi-entry visa would be easier.

Then you could go in and out as many times as you want in a year,

with a maximum stay each time of 90 days.

However it is a waste of money if you plan to get the One Year extension,

but you say that is not financially possible?

Mind you it may be worth applying, based on you wife's salary.

Nothing ventured nothing gained!!

At all cost, avoid the "charlatan's " wherever they might be. I doubt that you'd get a multiple entry number there anyway. Consulates have good noses ... if you are short on funds the buggers can smell it. If they have a smell of the shorts, they'll deny a multiple entry visa.
