Well, to be honest his predecessor from Soudan was even worse. He had to leave early because we found out that he joined the organisation on a fabricated CV. He declared being born in 1945 instead of 1954. Later, after he became DG, for pension purposes he tried to correct this, but it opened the pandora's box. 

 

Now, having worked 26 years with various UN agencies, I still believe they have an important role to play, but the issue of oversight still has to be addressed. WIPO is even more difficult to control as its revenue comes from the fees charged for registration of IP, therefore member states have lost the contributions leverage.
