seems logic??

I think such a person could say they are a vegetarian that eats meat once a month. People are vegetarian for various motivations. Some for health and some for ethics.

I think I am straight but 4 years ago in the town up here I met a LB in a bar. I felt a bit out of my depth so I gird up my loins , rose to the occasion , put my best foot forward , stiffened my resolve and turned the other cheek , we are now good mates even though I had to wear adult pampers for a couple of days !

Yes they can say what they want and For whatever the reason,  But The definition of a vegitarian is someone who eats only vegies. So If you eat meat (even if only once à month) You are not a vegitarian.

Who else finds this to be 100% logic???

"24,000 undergraduate students" in the UK, I assume, is hardly a representative sample of "straight men", implying result from limited study was true for all men.

I have nothing against gay men: figure it leaves rest of us straight guys with somewhat better odds with the ladies (okay, lesbians do mess that up a bit).

My beef is with spurious conclusion reached by article.

Your beef appears to actually be with the headline rather than anything the article addressed let alone the conclusion of the article.

Vegetarians also eat some animal products, they tend to overlook things like L-cysteine which is made from feathers, isinglass which comes from fish, gelatin which comes from bones, omega-3 which comes from fish, or collagen which comes from fish scales.  It is vegans who do not eat anything from animals, vegetarians tend to actually be flexitarians, avoiding flesh but not bothering to check every packet for animal based ingredients, so in this way they are little different from someone who eats flesh occasionally.

Don’t want to have sex with guys? Great. Don’t. You might choose pistachio ice cream over strawberry. Absolutely up to you. And about as interesting a choice to well-adjusted others.

But your aversion to male-male sexuality is not a hard-wired feature of your brain.

It’s cultural and social conditioning. “Normal” men in cultures outside the Judeo/Christian/Muslim sphere generally  do not share your distaste. They may not be interested in gay sex, but there’s no revulsion or disgust. We might look at pre-Christian Greece, Persia and Japan, for example, or some modern Polynesian cultures to see a completely different set of social norms that do not include anti-homophilic sentiments.

Sorry, mate. But in the interests of "raging" liberalism, I gave it my best shot. I was so frustrated by my apparent "shortcomings," that I went into a depression. My friend, who was the executive director of the agency where I did my HIV work, after listening to my story said, "I have some bad news for you. You're straight." I practically cried out, "Eureka!!!" Up until that moment, that thought had never really occurred to me. I mean, that a straight male could not get sexually aroused (in fact, quite the reverse is true) by another male. Like I said, I was predisposed to success in this regard. I came up in the 60's and 70's and there were few homophobes in my vicinity growing up. I had befriended neighborhood pedophiles as a child, never realizing that there might be anything wrong with that, either. They were not aggressive pedophiles, and they let me hang around and drink beer when no one else would. So, if I was going to be conditioned in any particular direction, it would have been pro, not con, same-sex sexuality. It just wasn't going to happen.

I do know some lads who went along with it, and were okay with it for whatever reason. Some went along with it and suffered as a consequence (sexuality confusion) for quite a while afterward. I've never felt even tempted to make an issue of homosexuality or to judge anyone for their choices in this regard, unless their actions harmed defenseless individuals. Post-conversion (believer in Jesus Christ), I found myself facing conflicts that arose as a matter of faith, but I've kept those mainly to myself. All of the positions and awarenesses on this subject that I shared here were formed prior to my religious conversion anyway. Just the same, sin is sin, and being chief among the sinners, no stones shall be cast from this direction, period. All my cards are and have been on the table here. I can't be any more clear on this particular subject. You are free to ignore what I say. But no one is free to tell me what I think or feel; that is the height of both hubris and stupidity for which no mercy will be shown. I stand by everything I've said. I haven't heard any major objections or rebuttals from the more well-balanced among the TV faithful, a number of whom happen to be gay, so I will continue to take my cues from them.

Not really.

Sexual identity is not the same thing as food preferences.

But here's another example for your amusement.

I had a Granny that kept Kosher all her life except when she was forcefully put in situations where she couldn't (Cuban prison, don't ask) and one time that I'm aware of where she decided to try lobster once in her life (cockroaches of the sea -- made her very sick, obviously psychosomatic). Anyway, I can still confidentially say she kept Kosher.

You can be a vegetarian if you tried meat once. Or were a meat-eater in the past.

Many gay people had had sex with and were even married to women and have children. Still, they identify as gay now and are not straight. I would say they never were.

<deleted>????

Sure. And if a gay man has sex with a woman, he is suddenly straight. Even though he didn't enjoy the encounter and does not want to have sex with a woman ever again.

It's the definition in the dictionary.

You may want it to be different, and you may want there to be more that 2 sexes, but there aren't, it's just a fantasy.

I'm OK with gay people, I can have a laugh and a joke with a ladyboy in a bar, but I don't want to have sex with them, cos I'm hetero.

I also understand the ladyboy fantasy of having sex with a hetero guy, but it's only their fantasy, not mine.

But this insistence that everyone wants to do everything to everyone just pisses us straight guys off and makes us less tolerant of gays.

I ain't insisting you are all hetero, you do what you want, but don't try to tell me what I am.

As for ladyboys, most of them are obviously guys, but if I were fooled and fancied one, that wouldn't make me gay unless I still wanted sex with them after noticing they had a penis.

Different dictionaries have different definitions. And you know what: These definitions can change over time. Welcome to the world of culture, which is in constant change. The word "Conservative" means that you want to conserve the culture that you feel comfortable with (maybe due to your upbringing) and it is a fight, because the world around you is changing.

We are not telling you what you want, this is up to you. But saying that your emotions are (should be?) the standard for any straight guy is a bit much.

I'm not sure sexual orientation is emotional, more likely genetic IMHO.

Aha. So it sounds like it's all about you and your personal experience. Aggressively and narrowly totally straight. That's fine. But you are not all of humanity.

Also please keep cows, goats, and sheep out of this. Discussions of human sexuality are complicated enough already.

That made me chuckle Jingthing . I am

straight and will be 'till the cows come home .

Do you remember a pub song in Straw dogs ?  " Some men like women , some men like boys , but I like big fluffy things that make a bah noise "

And there is the answer.... Gone are the days of straight/gay, black/white etc etc

These days there are a myriad of colours and genders...

It's a pretty world :partytime2:

Songlaw did not say this. I think I’d know if I had. Not my quote. Edit: Oh <deleted>, this isn’t even the “black and white” misquote. I give up.

I get so tired of all the idiotic terminology. Isn't all sex gay ?
And if I am not straight, then what am I? Bent and twisted? I claim to be straight homosexual all the way. And if you call yourself queer, then that's your own problem. Not mine.

It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly ignorant, lost and confused most people, especially northern Occidentals, are about men's sexuality. It is really quite simple. But I don't need the headache of attempting to educate. I gave up long ago.

If men have gay sex, wouldn't you call them gay?

But I already know some straight answers of some even straighter forum members, who do watch porn, but they look away if there's an erected penis involved.

How can you have fun watching porn if you always have to look away if there's a penis on the screen? That makes straight men, who secretly watch gay porn to aeeh.. aeeh heterosexual gay sympathizers.

I've just recently seen a website where couples or single persons are seeking mostly men to have a three or twosome. Men, who want to watch other men screwing/ aeeh having fun with their wives and perhaps doing something with/ to the men's thingy?

Don't stop making your funny gay jokes and bend down now, please.

well there is this new issue that scientists are only just starting to discover, which is that long term hardcore internet Porn use can be very addictive and also effect someone's sexuality, giving straight men gay thoughts

think about it, if you start masturbating to hardcore porn from the age of 15, you are looking at dicks a lot even though its straight porn, fast forward 10 years and you've rewired your brain into liking dicks because you've ejaculated looking at dicks for 10 + years, not saying this happens to everyone of course, but it happens to some people. Just google Porn made me Gay or Porn made me Bi, lots of guys posting about their experiences.

Sounds like a harebrained theory about the etiology of homosexuality to me.

However, there is evidence that gay for pay guys often become gay because of pleasure reinforcement but that's much more direct than watching porn videos.

Certainly. Especially if they never look at the vaginas while masturbating. LOL!
