Police are hunting a 37 year old Thai man after his father was found brutally murdered in the family kitchen in Ban Pheu sub-district of Nong Reua district, Khon Kaen.

Phaisan, 66, was found slashed to the face, head and neck and had been dead 24 hours when neighbors discovered the body.

Police said that as soon as neighbors saw what had happened the son - named as Arthit - disappeared on a motorcycle.

Police were told that he lived along with his father after the wife and mother died. Two female siblings sent them money - one working in another province and the other abroad.

Arthit was out of work but went out a lot and was always borrowing money from his father.

He disappeared with his father's money and his phone.

He is thought to be hiding with relatives in Chaiyaphum or his sister in Bangkok.

Neighbors said he was a former boxer using the name Khunseuk P.N. Yim but had hung up his gloves years ago.

Sanook referred to him as "luuk torapee" in their headline - this refers to the ungrateful child of a buffalo, a sub-plot in the Thai epic "The Ramakian", an offshoot from the Ramayana.

Unusually for the Thai media the corpse was not shown - instead Sanook had a picture of an unidentified man pointing to where the father had died.

"ungrateful son" who murdered his father

I have it on good authority that grateful sons rarely murder their fathers.

It's no joke this particular type of incident is happening all too often.
